Advice for growing out (please!)

Right now my hair is sitting right at my shoulders. It's just curly, layered, and I have side bangs.
Here's a pic of how it looks the way I usually style it. I braided it while it was damp the night before so it would be wavy, not curly.
Also, my face and the background are blurred because I'm just paranoid that way XD haha

So advice! I need to know if you think I should grow it out, to at least BSL, leave it, or get a pixie cut. I know these are polar opposites, but I need a drastic change.
Here's an idea of what each would prob. look like:

long- http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6...9mho1_1280.jpg

Also, how long do you think it would take to grow my hair to the longer length?

I think you should grow it out. It's not that the pixie cut wouldn't suit you, it's just that your face shape would go lovely with BSL curls! And people with curly hair who get short hair cuts often regret it afterwards ... especially when it starts curling up with damp weather!

The length it's gonna take is a different story! It depends on how fast your hair grows ... but I think it will at least take a year to have it nice and long (could take less, I really don't know)
thanks for the advice! I decided I am going to get it cut short, just not pixie short, my curls don't actually puff up too terribly. I want to cut it before growing it back out because it's not the healthiest, and I want to start fresh with clean and natural hair instead of growing out hair that's in bad shape
Maybe someday it will be really long, but until then I'll try to work what I've got i guess!
