Default Scalp issues? Product build up? Stunting growth?

No matter what I do, I always have this white gunk on my scalp. Even after i clarify, shampoo, scrub, everything, i have something i thought was dandruff and product build up on my scalp. I'm afraid its stalling my growth. :/ i bought Shea Moisture Black Soap Dandruff scalp spray today in efforts to help, and i don't use a lot of even heavy products and i don't even use products on my scalp other than shampoo. I don't even put conditioner on my scalp. Help anybody?

I have to rub my scalp firmly with my fingers a few times a week (sometimes I even scratch gently) or I get the white build-up too. I know if I've gone too long between thorough scalp cleanses because my head will get itchy even though my hair is not dirty.

At first I thought I needed to clarify, but shampoo makes it so much worse, like my scalp is overcompensating.

Yes exactly. It's frustrating. Do you rub your scalp with oil or something or just your scalp and fingers?

I do it when I cowash or shampoo (with sulfate free shampoo bar). I find that it's best to do it after working product in and before rinsing it out--if I do it after or during the rinse (or while dry, for that matter), it doesn't seem to all get rinsed off and my roots can be a little greasy.

Thanks! I did that along with my shea moisture spray and it's already improved a lot!
