Please help! Growing hair thicker and longer
I think I have 3a/3b hair and I'm African American but everyone says they think I'm Hispanic because of the quality and thinness of my hair. I've been trying to grow my hair for year and I've recently started putting Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp and massaging it in everyday for 3 days. I also added some to my conditioner and it has made my hair softer. Does anyone have any other tips I can try? I'm fed up with my just barely shoulder length, thin hair. My goal is to have thick, full mid back length hair. And so far it seems impossible! SOS! Help! I've attached a picture on my hair currently and my goal.

Great!
Im already trying castor oil, and it does wonders when I use it to style between two layers of leave-in conditioner on my wet hair.
thank you!

I don't use castor oil so I don't know the consistency of that oil but I would highly advise NOT to put oils on the scalp especially if you do not plan on washing it out soon. Oil clogs pores which hinders hair growth.

It just depends on your hair and what oil you use, because I massage avocado oil into my scalp twice a week and it helps growth tremendously. BUT, I have a pretty dry scalp without it so stuff absorbs quicker. I wash my hair every sunday and unless I'm going crazy with the hair butters I don't have build up from it.

I have very fine 3b curls and found that castor oil was too thick. It kind of caught on my hair, causing me to lose more hair to breakage.
I have, however, had great luck using ayurvedic oils on my scalp. Right now, I have one from Banyan Botanicals that's bramhi (Indian herb) mixed in coconut. They make the same herb in sesame, also they make a bringaraj oil (supposed to be very good for hair).
I don't know if this is helping my hair to grow yet (time will tell), but it is giving me a healthy scalp, which has to be good for something!
Hope this helps.

Ya regular caster oil helped make my hair thicker but not so much longer...I kind of stopped using it because I wanted longer hair not thicker!
Maybe vitamins will help?
I think these made my hair grow longer or I ate healthy for my hair to be healthy;B-complex,Flaxseed Oil

No problem,I'm not sure of any name brand products but I've good things about Wild Hair Growth Oil and DooGro or Dr.Miracle but I didn't use them long enough to see results.I wanted fast results and when I didn't see that I thought I wasted my money and stopped using them.

Johari, do you know if there is a significant difference between castor oil and the laxative kind?

I looked at Walgreens and found the castor oil but it was in the medicine section. The only ingredient was 'Castor Oil Laxative.' I didn't know if it was safe to use on my scalp, though.
