The picture on the left was from June of last year. I was still using products that had silicones and sulfates. My hair always felt dry and as you can see my curl definition at the roots was non existent. The picture on the right was from a couple of weeks ago. I have been using the CG method for about six months now and my curl definition is much better. My hair feels much more moisturized. I can tell it's growing. But now that I look back to last year, I think I may have jumped the gun with growing to waist length and should have focused more on health. I've had to trim my hair a few times and last week I chopped off the last pieces of heat damage I had in the front. Now that I've learned how to take care of my curls I feel like I should be able to retain more length. And I've also decided not to use heat on my hair at all this year and see where that gets me.

Jeliah your hair looks super soft, healthy and shiny. You should be very proud of yourself. I can definitely see the difference. I have been CG on and off, but I too have decided to become strict CG with monthly sulfate free clarification (I use a lot of oils). You're an inspiration.

@LoveInBetween Thanks again for the compliments!!! You and your hair are beautiful :-) Your regimen sounds similar to mine. I like to use a lot of oils as well. I mainly put them in flaxseed gel. That way I knock out sealing and styling at the same time. And I use a low poo just whenever I feel like I need it. I'm excited to see your progress as well. Happy growing!!!!

Length check. I am in fortunately roller setting again every 3 weeks but not flat ironing. My hair can't seem to handle being curly without falling out. So here's my update. 1st pic is from a month ago, then two weeks ago, and then today. Ive been Taking hairfinity as well for a month now. Can't really see much growth.. Looking for better results next month.

Update - closer to MBL now.

I'm doing more braids and buns, no re-wetting between washing, and lots of moisture. I've discovered the sock bun, which I love for day 3 or 4 hair.
And this is a five strand braid on my sis
And a Dutch flower braid (not sure I could do this one on myself, but it looks so cool).
I'm a little obsessed with braids right now (if you couldn't tell). It totally removed any anxiety about day 2 (or 3, 4, etc.) hair/curls and helps protect my hair. Love.

My hair is around bra strap ish...and my curl seems to be falling and my hair seems thinner. Idk if I want long hair anymore...it seems to be better short. Curlier, a lot more voluminous, thicker, anyone else have this problem?

I was! I just trimmed an inch off. ( I trimmed my hair the CG way) Looks so much better, but then again, I'm still trimming off my heatv damage from my high school flat iron days.
DepressedCurls I think you should do a strengthing DT or PT. You might be over conditioned

Hmm, then a trim might do the trick. I was having the EXACT same problem. No matter what treatments I did, I was still having droopy curls by day 2-3.. Then I reread the CG Handbook and realized that my ends were looking scraggly and needed a small trim to "reoxygenize" my curls according to Ms. Massey. Haha.
My curls are popping now.
Do any of you feel that if your bangs get too long, then you start looking like a poodle? That was me for like 3 months.

I'm going to get one Monday. Hoping things go back to normal. My curls are so off. My hairs loss of volume is a big disappointment and it feels quite brittle and dry throughout. Hopefully a trim, layers, and better.moisture/protein balance helps.

And yes, i noticed that too. My hair is two lengths now from where my bangs and layers are grown out then the bottom of my hair. Just a few inches difference and it looks odd and my hair is also always falling and in my face. When i had more lsyers and bangs, i felt it layed better.

I have noticed that my curls are a lot better a few weeks after a new trim, which I am due for now. Also I'm trying to get my hair to WL but it has taken me 5 years and 7 months to get to about mid back, which is past my bra strap. My hair grows almost an inch a month but every 3 to 4 months I have to cut and inch off the ends to trim it. It's about like 3 steps forward 1 step back. I do love my hair though. When it's dry it's more down to just above my bra strap. Hope you guys are able to keep your hair growing long.

Just trimmed and layered my own hair. LOVE IT. My hair is nearly product free so it's soft and fuzzy but my curls are defined and my ends are softer and yeah...I believe all I needed was a trim.
