Default What to do with my bangs while I'm growing them out?

I am recovering from a haircut I had a few years ago, when I was straightening my hair every day. I got bangs and layers, which now that I have gone natural, look terrible. The long layers are nice and controlled, but the short layers are more curly and frizzy, stick out, and are different lengths due to split and frayed ends. Ive attached some pictures.

I am growing out all my layers to be the same length, but in the process, I want to put back my bangs so that they grow out and don't look so bad! Headbands don't work because the hair is too short and sticks out, and methods that straight-haired girls use to pull back their bangs look bad with my curly hair. (as a sidenote, I have to have a side part because a center part looks really bad on me for whatever reason.)

Any suggestions of ways for me to put back my bangs? Thanks for the advice!

Try french or dutch braiding the front bang part into a side braid. Thats what im doing now (cut my bangs way too short) it look cute and hides bangs while they grow out.

I agree braiding your bangs is a great way! I have some tutorials on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtIaa5Vy6Cc

You could also try updos that involve braiding or twisting your bangs up. In addition, try using a headband, but first using a small amount of gel to smooth your bangs back. Simply pinning them off to the side, or back in a small puff might be another alternative.

FIrst of all, your bangs don't look bad! Growing out is a pain, I know, I am doing it too. Some days I just twist the wet bangs into longer curls behind them and thanks to gel, they stay "integrated". If it's at all windy, this goes bad quickly!

I also use bobby pins, tiny jaw clips, anything I can get my hands on to pull them back LOOSELY, don't pull them back snuggly. The half up, half down (with the up part really high on my head) looks cute but I don't want to wear it like that in the winter - my ears get cold!

I don't know if you like Softies by Goody, but I cut a chunk of my hair off to make "bangs" and now I regret it, lol BUT Softies work well at keeping your hair back and they aren't hard.

I agree. A twist, braid, or a top knot.

You can try a center part with two twists or braids in the front and see how you look then. You can do the same with a side part too! There are many ways you can do this. You can just twist/braid the bangs only and pin them back, or you can do it with bigger sections in the front. You could also do attached ones big or small, then put the rest of your hair into a ponytail, bun, or braid. You could also roll one or two sides back into a ponytail, bun or a braid. Not, like a regular twist using two pieces of hair, but like a tucked roll.

A top knot is like really high up on your head so your bangs will reach in the knot and they won't stick out. All you have to do is wrap it around like a big bantu knot, and use a hair tie or hair pins to secure it.

Another thought: You could also try French and fishtail braids going back. That would look really nice.

A trim might help also!

Let me know if I was misleading in any of this, and I will further explain.

Hope this helps!
