How often do you cut?

How often do you cut your hair when you want it to grow? In my opinion, hairdresseres almost always cut way to much of your hair off.

I have not cut or trimmed hair in over a year. I want it to grow and I have no split ends. If it ain't broke why fix it. Trimming hair to make it grow is a myth. Only cut or trim if you want a new hair style or if you have split ends.

Pff, I can imagine your growth will go a lot faster! So what do you do when your hair has, like, one-strand knots? Do you cut them off, our only iff the ends are split?

I have never had one knot strands, at least not yet. But if I do get one, I may first try to saturate it when water and conditioner and try to undo it. But since I have never had one, I don't know how feasible this is. I only use my fingers to comb my hair. To answer your question for me trimming or cutting is a last resort thing. I did big chop a year ago and am trying to see how long my hair gets (4a)!

I trim my hair when needed. A great way to extend the time between cuts/trims is to dust your ends (search and destroy split ends or single strand knots). Also, take great care of your ends so that they do not damage as easily. I trim every few months, but I dust whenever I'm bored.

well i havent had a trim or cut in 2 years..... yes i have NO shape at all, though i also have no split ends. i do get single strand knots, though when i find them ill snip them off so like i "dust" my hair. though i am due for a trim, at least so i can get a shape, though i have NEVER had a good hair cut and dont want them to cut too much off my hair.

Yup, post-bc for two years now &i havent really cut my hair. I trimmed it once maybe &it was so long ago i dont even remember exactly when. I dont wear protective styles either! I just try my best to be gentle, and even go product free to give it a break. I can very carefully separate the root of a knot without further damage or "matting" it down more. I try not to do anything to dry hair, except pin it up (cuz its got nice volume when dry). I dont feel it totally necessary to cut it, unless ends are split or they will surely damage the rest of the hair. Mine arent as far as i can tell, but ima trim soon anyway just to keep it that way, before my ends do begin to noticeably split lol. Even with 2nd day hair i would much rather quench with pure water. I believe i maintained it rly well by not denying the hair good ol, thirst quenching water.

I twist my hair up and trim of a half inch about twice a year. When I was relaxed the beautician would cut an inch off with each touch up! That was about -6" a year!

I've had some bad experiences with hair dressers getting too scissor happy so I don't go to one unless I really need a trim and my ends are pretty bad. I also only go if they will cut my hair dry and when it is straight so I can see exactly how much they are cutting.

Usually I trim my ends myself because they are rather healthy and I only do small trims. I trim whenever I see some split ends but usually I just dust my ends and that is enough. I don't have a set time schedule to cut my hair I don't believe in that I think you should cut your hair when you want to or need to.

I got a good trim in Dec. Before that I dusted my ends maybe n Oct. My hair had grown a bunch. She cut maybe a half inch all around. I still had split ends left tho :-/
I've never cut my hair on a schedule.
So I just twisted it up. Speaking of.. I need some Shea butter. It'll help seal my ends....prices have gone up doh! I want a LOT for my moneys.
