Default Biotin = skipped period?

I've been taking 2000mcg biotin for about six weeks (in addition to my multivitamin) for hair growth. I didn't have any side effects with it, though I skipped my period this month. I had a tinge of blood last week (a week after it was supposed to come). Before you ask, no I'm not pregnant. I actually skipped a period once before when I was taking biotin, and when I stopped taking the biotin a couple days later, it came. This time around, I quit taking it two days ago, but still no sign of my period. Though, I've been extremely tired the past few days, so maybe it's coming.

I was just wondering if it is a coincidence that a month or two after starting biotin, both times, I missed my period. I quit taking it the last time because it didn't seem to be helping my hair growth. After reading some posts here, I decided to try it again, but in a higher dosage. I'm just wondering if others have experienced this with biotin, and/or if it's normal to miss a period because of new supplements being introduced to the diet. I had asked my doctor before, and he'd said that unless it has hormones in it, shouldn't cause me to skip a period. I'm trying to rule out things. With the tiredness and missed period, I'm thinking I may be getting sick. Stuff is going around and I recently started a new job and have been anxious and out of whack with that.

If you're not pregnant, then maybe it's just your nerves or something.i take 5,000mcgs. of Biotin for a year now,and my period comes around the clock .Are you on any kind of birth control? I wish I had a better answer for you. But,if you're feeling really tired, then something is wrong.I hope you get it soon.

Nope I'm not taking any type of birth control. I think my cycle just got off-kilter due to new stress and now my whole body is out of whack. Being on my feet when I'm not used to it is harder than I thought. The biotin could be a contributing factor too. I did have more energy today, so that's a good sign.

No, I know I'm not pregnant - my boyfriend would have to have the super sperm to achieve that since I wasn't having sex around the time I would've conceived. I did take two tests earlier this week just to make sure i didn't get pregnant some other time, and they came out negative. I was hoping since I've been off the biotin a couple days, my AF would return like last time. No sign, but if I continue to feel badly, I have a doctor's appointment in a few weeks. Thanks.

I also take vitamins, and haven't noticed it affecting my period. I did miss about 6 months a few years ago, and not because I was pregnant - I had just moved away for school, and while I didn't feel that stressed out about it, apparently my body was. A trip to the OB-GYN got things smoothed out for me, though. Hope all goes well at the doctor.
