the dutch wikipedia sais woman can grow their hair maximum about 75 cm, that's about 30 inches. For men it's mutch shorter (about 45 cm). Nevertheless, I don't know how reliable this source is, and it is probably very different for every individual. It is genetically determined how long your hair can grow.

I've read terminal length is actually a myth. The growth doesn't stop. It just depends on how strong your hair is as to how long before it starts being a problem and breaking. If your hair stays stronger while growing before getting bad ends or break off, it will grow as long as you let it I imagine.

I think it is a myth lemme tell you why:

Shoulder length hair is hardest to care for. The ends are brushing against your shoulders all the time which causes friction. You really have to protect your ends.

How do I know?
I was told at thirteen (by ignorant ppl) that my hair would never grow passed shoulder length.
I ended up doing protective styles. Just buns because I didn't know how to braid at the time. And I stopped using heat. COMPLETELY.

Now at 21 after I BC'd in 2009, I have midback length hair. Hip length when straight.

Just take really good care of it while it's at shoulder length.

I know I can grow to my waist. But I have to keep it from BREAKING!!

But with my tight curls I'd still look to have chin length hair probably. <_<

I read that terminal lenght is real but everyone can grow their hair at least to tailbone lenght( or butt or thigh ..something like that, i can't remember exatly) so basically everyone can grow long hair, but not everyone can grow it to their feet and around the corner. And you will not know your terminal length before you have taken extremely good care for you hair throughout every strands complete growthcycle which is many years(it depends on each person ).

So everyone can grow hair past their shoulders!

Sorry for any mistakes, english is my second language

my hair has been almost down to my butt and i noticed it slows down in growth alot. I see people with knee length hair so doubt it totoally stops growing. It depends on the person and how they take care of their hair and body as well

It's more about time that length. On average, hair growth phase is for 2-6 years at about 1/2 inch per month (<-- growth rate). So hair can grow 1-3 feet before it falls out naturally. What is important is to minimize breakage to see full length.

I think everyone CAN get to waist length or at least mid back length but WON'T because of different hair care practices, health factors, environmental factors like stress, foods, etc.

I don't really think there is a terminal length tbh because when I was younger my hair used to grow past my butt but I hacked it all off for the first time when I was 11. It had maintained around shoulder length without me doing anything at all ever since. But Sept. 2012 when I wanted to grow it out and go natural I began to do research on proper hair care and within a matter of months it began growing better and healthier and now it's 2-3 inches from waist length straightened.. so I think it really depends on your regimen and how much you are willing to work for it and care for it
