Six Inch Challenge For July 2014!

Like Tree3Likes

I'm going to join in on this as well. I recently did my big chop for the 3rd time on July 1st. I haven't really given myself any goals because I don't want to be disappointed if my hair doesn't meet them. I'm just looking forward to having healthy hair, loving it and not being tempted to get a relaxer. My texture is a 4a

Its been almost 2 months since my chop and i would say my hair has grown maybe 1/2". I've colored it deep red twice since July - I just vowed to not do any more color until the new year. I.m hoping to get an inch of growth by December so I can get some box braids for the winter months to come. Currently I co-wash 2-3 times a week because I work out heavily, I also use a leave in conditioner and seal with coconut oil. I use shea butter as a moisturizer on my hair in between co-washes. I may shampoo once every two weeks with a no-poo or elucense moisture balance poo. I take a hair, skin and nail vitamin daily. I try to drink a minimum of two liters of water a day. My diet is vegan. I'm not due to measure my hair until October, then again in Jan/April/July.

If I can I will upload a few pics. My big chop and growth since July 1st.

I'm going to join! I did my 10 millionth big chop August 17th, 2013. My goal is for my hair to be 6 inches (or longer) by the end of July. I dunno, I think I have about 1 inch or so of hair.

In order to achieve these goals I will:
  • Go fully CG, not modified CG like previously
  • Use lighter products
  • No dyeing my hair (that's gonna be hard)
  • No heat
  • No combs/brushes etc, only fingers
  • Seal ends regularly
  • Sleep on Satin pillowcases

Okay, so I'm at waist. Yay!

I'll measure later so I can be precise...

Count me in! I'm at waist length straight and hope to be waist length curly by New Years! Any advice?
I wanna join in! My hair is right below my most pronounced cervical vertebrae. Just chopped it due to severe damage a couple months ago. Trying modified-CG this time, trying to grow it out properly. I was a religious straightener before, no more!

I shaved my head about 3 weeks ago, and my family is beginning to notice growth. I'm hoping by end of October it's long enough to do coil twists. I just started a 2 year college program and I am hoping for shoulder length (stretched hair) by the end of the program when I have to do my internship.

I find that when I cut off my processed hair (dye) that is reacting so different to products. I find that products that I hated (coconut oil, castor oil, protein treatments) that my hair loves. Also, I find that sleeping a satin pillow as definitely extended the amount of days I go before I have to re-moisturize.

Okay, my hair is 16 inches as of late August... So, I'm expecting nothing less than 22 inches by this time next year, which would be an inch past tailbone. :O

Yay! So many more people have joined! I went missing for a while but um... it's been 3 months. O October 26th I was supposed to post more pics (measure every 3 months) but I forgot so I'll be posting some pictures of my hair shortly, probably tomorrow.
I am so in on this! My hair is bra strap length and my goal is to eventually be to my hips fully curly no stretching. So if I'm reading correctly: no straightening. Easy!
I flat ironed again :/

Ok my 2014 resolution will be to cut done straightening to 5 or less times a year.

And I will Not straighten anymore for the rest of this challenge!!

Ok, I'm In!

I use heat almost every day to diffuse, so ill be cheating in that aspect until I find an alternative because I am NOT airdrying...my hair layers are too uneven, choppy, and ugly to let it airdry.

For growth ill be drinking more water, taking biotin and MSM...

Measurements:
Widows peak: 3.5 in
Bangs: 5 in
Crown: 9 in
Sides: 10 in
Nape: 11 in

When is the next length check?

My hair is still heat damaged so its probably best for me.
