Default The Duck Tail Phase

Hey hey!

Okay...im in my 3rd year of growing my hair out completely curly.

Im trying to grow until i am APL or BSL curly when dry....im guessing I'll have to be TBL or Classic length stretched to reach it? Im currently almost APL curly when dry and almost BSL curly when wet. Im nearly waistlength when straightened.

Did any of you go through this phase where its like you have a duck tail in the back? Did it take long for it to grow out?

In the pic its kinda flipped over my shoulder. Its annoying! I'll be glad when it rests comfortably on my shoulders at all angles!

I'm kind of in that phase right now, honestly. My lower layer looks just odd. I'm getting it trimmed today and I guess I'll cut it off and wait for my other hair to catch up. But I hate the cut healthy growth so I don't know what I'll end up doing.

See... i was thinking of doing that...but I've worked so hard to even grow a "tail" lol!

Im wondering if most longhaired curlies went through this phase.. especially the tighter 3's... the B's and C's?? How long did it last??

Don't cut your hair! Don't do it! Lol. From what I've been told cutting your hair when it's in the awkward stage is not a good idea because it'll never grow long curly if you keep doing that. Since hair grows at different speeds on different parts of the head cutting your hair does not guarantee the rest of your hair catching up any time soon. You'll just have shorter hair.

I don't have an answer, I just wanted to drool over your beautiful curls. They are seriously amazing.

True! I went to the salon & they told me I had a tail. I let them cut it but now its back haha maybe that part should have been cut short & not even length with every other place
