Hairgrowth and your Goals
Hello, (crosspost in General hair board)
I just wanted to get this off my heart.
My Goal are BSL long 3c's. My hair is a little longer than shoulderlength curly and it seems as if I was stuck at this length forever!
When I look at the beginning of my journey I am amazed. October 2004 I grew out my pixie hair cut (with 3c hair) to shoulder length in one year and one month! Now it seems to grow so slow.
Can it be that it looks so short because my hair is still short enough to have the *power* to shrink up?.
Could it be that in a year or so my hair will suddenly be to heavy and will pull down ,looking like it grew fast?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Thanks for reading
*Paranoid*

I get alot of "shrinkage" and I'm only a 2c. I keep my hair wavey/curly most of the time and when I straiten it people say - wow your hair is getting so long! I really can't tell unless I measure it how long it is and if it is growing. I'm sure that yours is growing more than you think!

Oh yeah! My goal is waist long. I had it like that in highschool and I miss it. I am shooting for BSL first (I'm close!) and then I'll take it to the waist if it still looks decent. I got a pixie cut that I didn't ask for in '99 and I've been up and down since then. Check out my fotki for a pictorial....
If you want to track your hair growth, put a messuring tape at the start of your hair line in front, then have someone stretch out your longest wet curl in the back. About once a month will give you an idea of how fast you are growing - or that you are growing at all! You will likely get some pull down later. At least I did at a longer length!
Great question Parasol!

Blow dry your hair straight and see if it looks different. When I wash my daughter's hair I can pull a strand of hair and it goes down to her waistline. Once dry it is at bra strap line.

It could be a seasonal thing (hair slows down in the winter), a stress thing, or something with your diet. All these factors slow me down.
My hair is just past my shoulders curly. My goal is to get it about 6 to 8 inches longer. I'm taking lots of hair vitamins and receive B-12 injections. My naturopath says the B vitamins, D, and fish oils should really help. If hair normally grows 1/2 an inch per month and accelerating that can make it grow up to an inch, I might reach my goal in a year....
I got some lowlights put in about three weeks ago, and it looks like I already have 1/2 an inch of growth, so I am pretty hopeful.
Hope you find something that helps you!

My goal changes from one day to another. Sometimes I want to chop off all my relaxed ends because its bugging me, but other days I say I want to cut 2 inches every 6 months.
I guess my long term goal is to have my hair 100% natural by the summer of 2008. Then after that let it grow for two years without cutting it.

My hair goal is BSL when curly. I used to have my hair like this before I evern appreciated my curls. (I was into the hippie-let-it-grow-and-do-nothing-at-all-to-it-thing) Now When I look back at pictures, I long for that look again. But this time I am going to at least try to control the frizz!

Re: Hairgrowth and your Goals
It took a year and a month?! I am going to require so much strength and self-control to not go and get it all cut off. I am trying to grow it to shoulder length (when not curly).
Patience. Patience is a virtue. Need to remember that. I got my hair cut (well styled and trimmed) about 2 weeks ago and currently my hair is around chin length.
I started growing my hair September time and when I went to get it style, a considerable amount was cut off (because it was in a lot of layers and I am trying to decrease the number of layers in my hair).
How much longer do you guys think it will take?
Thanks!

hairgrowth and your goals
Well, I've gone since the end of January with no trims other my own bang-trimming(I look better with bangs, but they aren't really curly anyway). This is the longest time ever for me without going to the haircutter in many years. Like some others here, it doesn't really look much longer than it did 3-4 months ago. I have 2c-3A hair if that clarifies it any, so I do have some "shrinkage" going on. My hair DOES look 2-3 inches longer when wet and combed out. The back is now just below shoulder length, but the front pieces are at that awkward length of being just above shoulder-length, all in all an awkward stage, because it's not long enough to do cool things with it yet, and I'm not a styling genius with my hair to begin with. So it's just sort of sitting there with its mixed texture. I do get good first-and second-day hair, and maybe third in a good week, and from day to day I never know what it's going to do as my texture is all over the place. I'd LOVE to be consistently 3A or 3B but that ain't gonna happen! Can you tell I've got the blues about my hair today?? It didn't help when I was looking at hairstyling magazines with beautifully colored and cut curls either(guess I should stay AWAY from those mags at the drugstore!) I AM however shooting for a year with no trim, and go from there. If my hair still looks OK, I'll shoot for another 6 months, etc. By not getting my hair cut since January, I've saved $130.
But you know what they say about a watched pot - it never boils-LOL! Same thing with hair, but with the desire for instant gratification, it seems like it takes FOREVER to grow it.! Back in junior high, I knew a girl who had long thick hair, and her mom would cut it shorter for the summer. When she would return to school in the fall, it was 6 inches longer! That's the fastest-growing hair I ever encountered.

I would love my hair to be BSL when curly. I haven't had hair that long since I was four.

Started growing out a pixie about 4 years ago. I'm almost to my goal of BSL while curly - 2 inches above that now. Thinking right now that I'm not going to stop there and continue growing until I don't like it anymore. I'm currently loving the length.
