snip snip?

So I am growing out my hair, it's taking forever, etc etc, and I also have been coloring my hair and I have been noticing for the first time in years and years that I have split ends - obviously due from the drying effects of color.

So now I am thinking that I need to get these ends snipped off. Right? Isn't that what you do with split ends?

Does anyone know any other solutions?

Waaaaaaah...my hair will never get any longer!
3A - fine, just above shoulder length, w/red color and highlights.

Product: Suave Coconut leave in, Joico Joiwhip mousse, Angell or F/X Curl booster on wet hair. Sometimes rotate in ReCoil/CK.

Routine: Scrunch with cloth diapers, then use Shellynot's clipping method. Diffuse a bit without touching hair. Leave clips in at least half and hour. Remove clips and air dry.

Day 2: Pineapple, no product.

Split ends can be made to look repaired with some serums, but they aren't really fixable. You either have to put up with them or trim them off.

If you don't have a ton you can snip off the damaged end of individual hairs in what is cqalled 'search and destroy." If they are everywhere, a trim might be best.

I hear ya. I color treat too. After a year of no trims, I had three inches cut yesterday. Oddly my dry length really looks minimally shorter, which is amusing. Three inches of wet hair makes little difference in my dry length. It makes the effort of growing out seem a bit futile.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.

Thanks for the advice, RCC. Much as I like the sound of 'search and destroy," I think an all out attack is necessary, so I'll be scheduling my appt for a trim this next month.

Yes, I am familiar with those serums - my color guy, who is different from my cutter gal, is non CG and proud, and has been chastising me for not using this really expensive 'hair repair' stuff that he sold me in a moment of weakness. Full o' cones, and purely a cosmetic "repair," so on my shelf it sits!
