Unhappy Someone told me...

That your hair only grows to a certain length, and that if you don't have the genes for long hair, your hair won't grow really long. Is this true?
My hair used to be down to my waist, but I had to cut it all off up to my collarbone due to damage, and it hasn't grown at all in a few YEARS. I've tried everything, but nothing seems to help my hair grow. =[ Will I ever be able to get my long hair back?

It's called terminal length and everyone has one. But that doesn't mean that short is your terminal length. You used to straighten your hair and use shampoo and 'cones regularly, right? That could make your ends break easily so it seems like your hair doesn't grow.

Good hair care (cg) and vitamins will make all the difference and your hair will grow longer.

I've heard of this. It may be true for some people, but I would think terminal lengths would still be very long lengths, not collarbone.

Curly hair appears to not grow much because of shrinkage. Also, if you get regular trims, like once a month or so, you're not going to get much growth. Are you actually losing hair? More than you normally would in a day? If so, you should get some bloodwork done. Make sure you don't have any deficiencies or anything else going on.
