Default How do you manage? W/o flat iron? Hairstyles?

To keep the flat iron out of you hair? Gah its so hard. Esp since I'm use to relaxers & flat irons. Now I don't know what to do to it for school, Do you have any advice. I'm thinking about getting my hair braided up & leave it in for a good while, but what do I do after that?

i totally agree!!!
and i think it depends on ur hairtype. what hairtype are u?

i guess in the meanwhile i can tell u what i do to make mine more manageable.
i have 4a hair and its really damaged from flat ironing so much so i have some 3 inch straight pieces in the middle of my hair ALL OVER my head. so i find that my hair looks really good and much more put together when i do braid outs. (braid it all over at night to simulate natural curl all over my hair). most people cant tell the difference and its really cute.

i hope i helped at least a little, lol.

Lol, thanx you did. I've decided to get some afro twist. & keep in & get it done over & over threw out the year. & keep trimming it. I have badly damaged hair too. It's breaking off. Gahhh. But I must keep the flat iron out(:

How do you like your natural hair so far??

I haven't used the flatiron or blowdryer since Christmas 2006 and don't miss it at all.Sure my hair shrinks but it is healthy and very long. However,my DH is upset because he bought me the CHI back in December 2006 for Christmas and it's collecting dust in the hallway closet.

Have you tried up-dos? I've been growing out my hair without any heat application since April. For my work week I usually will do some flat twists in the front and either a bun or drawstring ponytail in the back. I apply my products and style my hair wet, then tie it down with a scarf. This lasts me five days, even through my workouts. On the weekends I like to wear my hair "out" so I'll do either a bantu knot out or a twist out.
