One side of hair longer than the other???

Hey everyone. I've been growing out my hair for about a year and a half and I'm at APL and SL (my hair is layered). Lately I've been really noticing that one side of my hair (my left side) is longer than the other. I say "really noticing" because I was aware of it before (I remember before I started wearing my hair curly my stylist would mention how one side of my hair grew faster or something) but it seems more apparent now that my hair is longer. Someone once told me (I think it was that same stylist) that the side I sleep on will usually have shorter hair than the other side. Is that true? I don't want to cut off my healthy ends on my right side just to even it out but I don't want it to get worse! Does anyone else have this strange problem? Any advice??

It's normal .

Just like one hand is bigger than the other and one foot bigger than the other etc....

I'll chime in as another aussie (yay!) I haven't really experienced a side being longer then other. Mine is just generally uneven. Patches all grow at different rates.

However I'm with loulou on this one - think it's completely normal. Not sure about the sleeping thing though. Are you using a satin or silk pillow case?

Sometimes I'm a little suss on what stylists say - depends completely on the stylist though - some just wanna make you spend more money. *shrugs*

Hopefully someone else will chime in too.

I feel much better about my hair growing at different rates depending on the side of my head. Though, just to be safe, I think I might try sleeping on the other side . Oh, I can't sleep on pillow cases made of any other material than cotton, satin and silk don't allow my skin to breathe and it end up trapping oils and causing pimples. It sucks though because I don't really care for sleeping in satin bonnets.

It's true. The left side of my head grows faster than the right side, but I sleep on my left side.

As long as it's growing, is what I say.
