So, I'm not exactly sure where to put this, but since I was discussing curly hair in a positive context, I guess Hall of Fame will work.

Lately, as we all do from time to time, I've been feeling really down on myself about a variety of things. I was recognizing this and talking to my boyfriend about it and then I realized that doing the Curly hair journey is a good metaphor for life...

I might do exactly the same thing on any given day with my hair but curly hair is always a surprise... Sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. I'm learning how to just go with the flow!

My boyfriend said, "That's a really good metaphor for how you should live the rest of your life, too."

So thanks to all of you on Naturally Curly for teaching me to embrace my hair and thanks to my hair for teaching me how to embrace life!

That is profound.

This also reminds me of something I remember reading here earlier: our hair probably looks better to others than it does to ourselves. I am trying to take this approach to hair and life. What I might think is crisis time, probably isn't, so relax and take things in from others' perspective.
That's another really good point. A lot of times when I think it looks terrible, people will comment on how long it's getting or something. Another reminder to not be so hard on ourselves. Or our hair.

We are definitely our own worse critics!

Thanks for sharing this outlook on life. Definitely going to try to follow this more often in my daily life. I get down on myself all of the time and just need to think positive! Like I do about my hair. =)

What I have learned from my natural hair is that I don't have to conform to the standard of beauty which belongs to someone else. I am exotic and sensuous all by myself and being an ORIGINAL "me" is so much better than being a carbon copy of anyone else.

Being FREE is PRICELESS!

Blessings!

One of the things my hair taught me is patience...not just because of the waiting for years for the damages to heal but also putting products in your hair and waiting for it to air dry...using deep conditioner waiting for almost an hour then putting hair products in your hair again even if you use a diffuser it still takes a long time...but i always get good results so..i really learned patience...and i feel like it helps me on my everyday life
