We'll have to have a "Brave" release countdown and party! Finally, Disney portraying curly hair in a positive light!

Is it sad that I got really excited when seeing this post? haha

<3 Our love is like the wind; I can't see it. But I can feel it. <3
I bet when the DVD comes out, the behind the scenes extra will feature a whole segment with the animators discussing the challenges of creating her hair. Should be fun to watch. I think the choice for curly hair might reflect the change in how curly hair is being perceived, but also the fact that 3D animators are always looking for the next big challenge as far as creating textures goes.

I don't think - and I hope I'm right - they will straighten her hair in the end. It's too beautiful for anyone to want to mess with it. And why go through all the trouble of creating those curls if they thought straight hair was better?

And I don't know how they will straighten her hair if it's set in the medieval times. Plus I believe curls were fashionable back then. I'm glad they gave her curls. They look so natural and I love the character designs.
I just saw that trailer and was AMAZED at the beautiful detail of the hair. They say that hair was the BIGGEST challenge when it came to CGing human beings and this really proves not only how far they've come, but how dedicated they've got to be to show off a curly haired girl since it must have been MUCH more time consuming.

Kudos, Disney!
Met her at Disney last week. She was adorable!

I can't wait till the movie comes out

I also have yet to see The Princess and the Frog. :/

p.s. I'm the girl standing next to her, my boyfriend is in the red shirt and our friend to my left, if anyone's wondering.

I read this is Pixar's first attempt at a movie from a feminine perspective, though they are trying to break away from the traditional princess stereotype and also appeal to boys with lots of action and bear-fighting. Should be fun.
Was she wearing a wig?

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
I am looking forward to watching this! Love the scene in the trailer where her mom is trying to "tame" her curls under a cap. She didn't look like herself, her red curls are beautiful

I wondered because the top half of her hair looked 'not real' while the longer parts looked 'real'.

I can't wait to see this movie. Finally a Disney princess that has a mind of her own and isn't waiting for Prince Charming to ride up and rescue her.

And after watching "Tangled" last week, I told my hubs that I wanted the wicked step-mother's hair, which is FABULOUS!

I'm of Scottish descent, I shoot a bow, I have long curly hair (though blonde, not red).

Had this movie come out 45 years ago, it would have been an inspiration for a girl like I was, and would have changed my life completely.

At that time, I totally hated my curly-headed, tom-boy self.
