The strangest rude comment i've ever gotten about my hair
So my friends and i had all taken an impromptu dip in the pool. We all have fun, get our hair wet, and so forth...
After our swim, the girls of the group were in the bathroom kind of fixing ourselves up (we had plans later) and i'm scrunching some leave-in into my hair. One of the girls turns to me and says (the following exclamation points are not an exaggeration) "oh my god!! If I had to hear that SOUND everytime I did my hair i'd just want to kill myself!!"
I was honestly just baffled. I couldn't even come up with something to say because it was such a ridiculous remark.

Wow that is absolutely ridiculous... I would've said something a long the words of: what are you five years old?
I definitely I understand why you were offended- I would've been too! As if though the sizzle the straightener makes it any better! XD

Yeah, it was so random. She wasn't in a bad mood previously, and i have no clue why the sound my hair makes when scrunching would even phase someone.

Yeah, i don't find it to be annoying. (even my mother, who gets annoyed at a lot of sounds/repetitive noises has never said anything about it)
After she said that everyone paused and gave her a "guuuuuuurl -_-" kind of face and she walked away to rejoin the rest of the group.

wow, that's ridiculous! My mom says I'm like the most sensitive person about noises, and even that noise doesn't get on my nerves.. I think it's kinda funny sounding!

My rudest comments
All my life, I've heard crap like:
"Is that a wig?" (It is not)
"Is that your REAL hair?" (It is)
"It must take you a really long time to do your hair every day!" (It does not)
"That's some seriously big hair" (It's curly, I can't help the volume!)
....and the one that floored me the most came from my now ex-husband:
"If you'd just straighten your hair, dye it blonde and grow it longer like Bonnie's, you'd be perfect!" (Turns out he'd been having an affair with "Bonnie", the teller where we used to do our banking!)
People are such jerks.

I went to a family reunion in Ga last month. I had been natural for about 1 week. I didn't tell anyone on my dads side that I BC'd I just showed up with my TWA. My dad looks at me and says "you cut your hair?" I said "yep I'm going natural" he says "what does that mean?" I said "no more perms for me!" He says "so you just gonna walk around with your hair nappy?"
I was at church a couple of days ago and a friend asked me if I was going to get dreads. I said "no, I wonder why people keep asking me that?" She says "well isn't that the reason people go natural?" I was too confused because it was approx 7 women in the room, 3 of us natural, none of us had dreads. So how she came to that conclusion is beyond me...
Whew so glad I got somewhere to vent. Lol Thanks ladies!!

yea i no how that feels, im just 18 and my whole life i got that as well,
"how th hell do you get all that up? i would just cut it off!" (i used to always wear my hair in a pony tail
"why dont you just straighten it? it'll be alot easier"
"it must take you ages to straighten it"
"you should shave it all off, then maybe it'll grow straight again"
"it looks like straw!"
took me ages to to like my hair n accept it...... only when i discovered this site, earlyer this year i started looking after my hair n seeing its true beauty

A conversation in a beauty store yesterday
I entered the store, which is a store that also sells wigs and extensions, the sales person comes to greet me and says:
- Wow! That a lot of hair you've got there.
-Yeah! I hear that's a lot. (and I pause as I wait for the next comment)
-It is really all... out there, isn't it?
-Yeah... ( I pause and run my eyes around the store)
- How do you manage that?
- Managing...
- I once had a wig like that... people liked it.
- Ok.
-Did you ever straighten it with I flat iron?
- Yeah.
- Does it get straight?
- Yes, it does.
- Wow... It might take like... two days to do it, right?
- No... a couple hours.
- Ahhnn...
- Excuse me, Iet me see if you carry something I am looking for.
Ufff.... and I was so happy with my hair that day. Why people are so mean?
I do have a hard time dealing with my hair volume... it's a lot, and it's the only thing it won't change. Sometimes I feel hopeless. Sorry...I needed to vent too.

As a fine hair gal with medium density, I LOVE your hair volume! Your avatar is simply gorgeous. The salesperson sounds jealous to me.

Thank you
Thank you curlypearl!
I've been natural for a year and I'm still learning to deal with my hair. I have never been criticized because of being curly, the target was always the volume, since I was a kid and even till today, people think it needs to be fixed. So After hearing that almost 30 years, it's hard to believe that it is ok and actually enjoy and feel comfortable with its volume and quantity.

Looks like STRAW???
WTH? Straw is straight and dry and yellow, like a girl who dyed blond and straightened it repeatedly until it got fried. That one makes no sense!
Omg these comments REALLY!
Girl your hair is FABU!!!
