I worked at this place for about 4 years. Every day I would just wear my hair normal, wavy/curly, either in a ponytail or loose. My friend straightened my hair for an event and the following day it was still straight so I wore it to work like that. A coworker I had worked with for years said "Oh, you didn't curl your hair today. " Ha.
Funny I find this thread...just yesterday someone said I look like Peter Pan because of my shaved side

Whole time I'm like "whaaaa?"

Out off all the things she could have said...Peter pan though?

Don't know how long that would be straight lol
One thing that upset me in my teen years: my hairdresser used to straighten my hair before cutting it, because she didn't want to cut off too much. Then when I'd go to school the day after, everyone would remark how much better I looked with straight hair. :-/

once a guy was trying to compliment me
by saying he likes my frizzy hair !!
n it was a good hair n not frizzy at all
My male boss and coworkers are always commenting on my hair and I can't tell if they're stupid or just acting like idiots.

Every day I come in with full curl and my hair is shorter they ask if I got it cut, and every time it loosens up for 2nd or 3rd day hair they ask how it grew. I have already explained that as my hair uncoils it looks longer but it's always the same length.

EVERY %^#$^#@ TIME.

Whenever I cut my hair short I get questions like "You're hair is so curly. How long does it take to do that?"
Do people actually spend all morning curling their hair into tight curls?
When I first started wearing my hair curly, everyone would come up to me and say "oh my gosh I love your hair, how did you get it so curly? Did you curl it?"... My hair type is 3b... It would take forever if I curled it lol

My oldest and dearest friend's first comment on my newly natural wavy/curly hair was "You know when people try to curl their hair with one of those curling iron thingies? Well, your hair looks just like that, except in a way that it went completely wrong"... Ooo-K.

Oh wow I never realized so many people get the same stupid comments I do! I've gotten so many stupid comments before like:

"Omg can I touch your hair?" (they usually start touching it before they even ask so they basically ask while their hand is already in my hair) and then usually I get "Oh my god it feels so like......curly" and I'm like well duh it's curly hair, how do you expect it to feel?!

and then there are people that only ever compliment my hair when it's straight so on a normal day they don't say anything and then the one day out of the year I decide to straighten they're like "OH MY GAWSH your hair sooo gorgeous!! You should wear it like this all the time, it's so pretty!!"

My ma is also a bad offender when it comes to stupid curly comments, she seems like think my hair is "scruffy, messy and unruly" even though I can guarantee you I take better care of my hair than my hair straight haired friends. Everyone seems to think that by straightening your hair you look clean and neat, I think seeing people with beautifully styled natural hair looks just as good.

I was just remarking to my husband today about hair. The people who have stick straight hair who keep it freshly washed, shiny, and "swingy" look very nice. However, we were watching a program that we like and one young news lady had her hair straightened (I think she's "ever so slightly wavy") and her hair was stuck down like it was shellacked. That does NOT look good. Yuck. I think people with hair that's curlier than mine have some of the most beautiful hair on the planet, though. My personal preference.

I'm definitely a "curly" 2c. Sometimes curly and sometimes just wavy upper layer with a ringlety under layer. My hair has been thick and coarse since birth. Strawberry blonde in color that can and does change depending on the type and amount of light.

All in all, I'm happy with my hair type but almost for sure think yours is prettier.
When people say "you should straighten your hair!!" And they don't know how hard it is or damaging-.-

I'm sure I've gotten rude comments, and the more I read all of the comments everyone has gotten - well, now I wonder how many people around me are thinking bad things about my hair.

When I was in junior high I had tight clumped curls, like shirley temple style but my hair was also long and I got tons of compliments.

I have honestly always been a CG. In high school I would maybe straighten my hair 1-2 times a month but now it's like 1-2 times a year. HA I've never wanted to put in over an hour to blow dry it straight when I can put in my product and let it air dry.

The only comments that i remember is that it looks crunchy, but a lot of times using extra hairspray at first ends up forming the curl I want and as the hair dries, it softens. I also notice my mom always says my hair looks great when I haven't washed it in 2-3 days but never one the first.
My favorite so far happened just last weekend.

Friend's roommate (who I don't care for much to begin with): "Do you ever get frustrated because you're trying to put your hair up, but you can't because of all the knots. And you just want to brush it!"

Friend: "Um....no."
(She has a short faux-hawk right now)

Me: "I never brush my hair."

Friend's roommate: "You NEVER brush it? That's really disgusting."

I wanted to reply with "Yeah, and so is your personality." Maybe next time
