The dumbest comment regarding my hair?...Mmh, I must think about it, because I have TOO MANY stupid comment that I listened to. Ah, maybe when a girl who had got straight hair asked me how I got my hair so curly and what products did the "miracle". I replyed that it was my natural way. Or when a teacher of mine asked me how did I use to brush or comb my hair the morning, since they were so curly. I was shocked. Didn't she know that curly hair MUSTN'T be brushed?O_O

Oh, there's been a lot.

"your hair is BIG." (my loving father)

"how on earth is it that curly?!" (my straight haired friend)

*a day when I have obviously straightened my hair*. :

"did you straighten your hair? You look amazing. You should do that every day."

I just recently went curly, so I haven't had much time for dumb comments yet (I'm sure they're coming), but I was at Starbucks a few weeks ago and had a woman in line ask me if my hair was naturally curly. She said she was a photographer and was always looking at how things would photograph. She said she thought my hair would really "catch the light".

After working at my job, with curly hair every single day for over a year, one time I get it straightened when I cut it.

I managed to preserve it the next day, and went to work with the straight hair.

My boss: "AH! Your hair is straight! Is it naturally like that?"
Me: *gives boss weird look* You really think I'd curl it EVERY DAY just to stick it under a hard hat and wreck it?
My boss: "ummmm..... well, it's just a really good straightening job, that's all"
Me: .......... *shakes head*

I think that was the dumbest comment I've ever had said to me. About my hair, anyway....

I remember when I was much younger (maybe like 9?) I had two girls ask me how my hair was so curly and shiny, I joked around and told them I put "grease" in it. They ran away saying "ewwww". They were the popular, bratty girls in my elementary school so I enjoyed grossing them out.

I was having a really bad hair day one day and a homeless friend I had told me to wear his hat because I looked like I needed it. Oh *I* was the one who needed it? Fortunately, I was rather amused by this.

Also, I get a lot of "you look just like your mom" now that I am curly. I used to get "you look nothing like your mom".

In some weird way that was nice of him. That hat may have been a prize possession.

I had -the worst- interview today. The ONLY question the lady asked me was if my hair was real. O_O really?

Oh, haha, I knew him quite well, actually. I gave him some of his possessions.

I normally go about weeks between haircuts but in the process now of going three. About at four weeks, the curlls start coming. Anyhow, since it is longer and curlier now someone asked me, "Are you bringing the 80s man perm back?" I was floored. Although back in the 80s when I was a teenager growing it long, it had lots of curls but just for a few laughs, my older put me in her hot curlers.

Oh wow I never realized so many people get the same stupid comments I do! I've gotten so many stupid comments before like:

"Omg can I touch your hair?" (they usually start touching it before they even ask so they basically ask while their hand is already in my hair) and then usually I get "Oh my god it feels so like......curly" and I'm like well duh it's curly hair, how do you expect it to feel?!

and then there are people that only ever compliment my hair when it's straight so on a normal day they don't say anything and then the one day out of the year I decide to straighten they're like "OH MY GAWSH your hair sooo gorgeous!! You should wear it like this all the time, it's so pretty!!"

My ma is also a bad offender when it comes to stupid curly comments, she seems like think my hair is "scruffy, messy and unruly" even though I can guarantee you I take better care of my hair than my hair straight haired friends. Everyone seems to think that by straightening your hair you look clean and neat, I think seeing people with beautifully styled natural hair looks just as good.
