I hate when my classmates ask me if I hate my hair .-.
I love it and they know it too well so they always say that I look like Marge from Simpsons. .-.
But one of the dumbest was from my grandma'.
I sayd "Oh, I look horrible this afternoon! And Daniel (a boy <3<3< =çç= ok xD stop) saw me looking like this? He surerly thinks I'm ugly"
and my grandma "It's because of your hair. You look like a crazy person from madehouse because of your horrible curly hair. You have to straight it!"
.-.

While perusing the science fiction section at the bookstore this lady walked up on me and started to chatter at me.
Woman: "OMG, I love your curls, who did your perm?"
(this was after the Steve Martin/Bernadette Peters movie 'The Jerk" had hit the theaters and spiral perms were all the rage because of Bernadette's hair)
Me: "No one - its naturally curly"
Woman: "Are you sure it isn't a perm? Natural hair does not curl like that"
Me: "Yes, I am positive it is not a perm - its just my hair and curling is what it does all by itself"
Woman: "Oh come on, really - tell me who did your perm, please?"
Me: "Okay, fine, God did my perm"
At that point I just spun on my heel and stalked off

I got that alot. Both of my girls are curly and as toddlers many people would ask me if it was natural. I would just say yes, but my husband's stock response was "No, that took me 2 hours this morning". When they were toddlers I was lucky to get it partially picked and chase them around the house with the spray bottle!
I think people just want to comment on it and that's the first thing that comes out of their mouth. Other than the "natural" question, we've had nothing but compliments on our hair!

Sorry she was being such a putz. I think the older generation is a little more entrenched in their anti-curly brainwashed thinking. Hope you're wearing your curls with pride these days.

Dee and Curlissue - I was horrified to hear these ignorant comments were aimed at you...OMG! One hopes you both considered the source, and did not take this to heart...4 Hair is so beautiful, you are both lovely, and these people...obviously did not understand a *thing* about beauty! Eeesh...some people's kids! Honestly...

"How did you get your hair to do that?"
"you must not have any thing better to do than play in your hair"
"I can't go natural because my hair won't do that"

"I think you all are brave to go natural. I could never go natural because natural people have a depressed look."
Meanwhile I'm thinking in my head, "what did 'Thin hair because of creme' sista just said?!!!"

Ugh, I always get asked if my hair is naturally curly, even when it's wet! Like ... seriously?
That, and the usual hair myths, like trimming your hair will make it grow faster etc. SIGH.

I like to switch up my hair, so it isn't always curly (don't hate me, I do love my hair, I'm just bored easily). So I always get the following questions:
"How is you hair naturally?"
"Curly"
"Really? Are u sure that's not curled?"
"Positive"
"No, really"
"Shut up, I have curly hair"
"How long does it take to curl your hair?"
"This is natural"
"Haha, very funny. No, really, how long?"
"How can you be part Spanish and have curly hair?"
(No, Spaniards don't usually have curly hair. But obviously, I'm not all Spanish..)
I don't understand why people won't believe me that my hair is curly!! A couple of people that are really only acquaintances, but ones I've known for years, STILL think I'm lying about having curly hair. *sigh*

There are Spanish people with loose to medium curly and wavy hair. It's not an anomaly. Maybe you're just around ignorant people.

A guy friend told me a woman who is friends with a friend of his said, after seeing me, something like "what is that girl doing walking around with dreadlocks? If she were to hang out with me, I'd have her do something about that hair". Uh...I have curly hair. How stupid do you have to be to confuse the two? And what business is it of hers if someone did have dreadlocks?
My friend tells me he stood up for me, which I thought was sweet.

The dumbest comment I've gotten was from a girl my sister used to hang out with. On a day I happened to straighten my hair this is what she said to her friend whom I had just met:
"See how straight and smooth and flat and pretty her hair looks today? Yeah, it doesn't always look like that."
Me: "WTH?!"
Some of my other favorites include:
Straight haired ladies asking me to teach them how to make their hair curl like mine. ("would like a copy of my DNA?")
A friend of my moms consistently tells me "I want to stick my hands in your hair and just shake it around!" ("he he, yeah, no. ")
Girls telling me "oh, I have curly hair like yours but, I straighten mine" as if for some reason that's preferable in most social situations.

I wouldn't call this one dumb, but...
I have ridiculously tiny corkscrew coils when I do a WnG. That is without any form of manipulation other than finger combing. Anyway, I was asked by someone " How did you curl your hair like that?"
Now if I did that my self, I'd've had to have used a coffee straw and I don't have that time available. I was, however, polite and said no, it does that on its own... The woman did not believe me people. She gave me this "I think you are withholding info" stare. 😳
