Sami, it's completely inappropriate for a teacher to tell you you'd look gorgeous if you wore your hair, clothes, or anything a certain way. I hope you know that. It doesn't matter if the teacher is the same sex as you are, either.

he's a high-maintenance boy?? metrosexual??

oooh hell no I'd have jokes on him for days. By the time I'd be through he would NEVER comment on my appearance again.

Default Here we go again!

Society just can't let go of the long, silky hair. I'm afraid it's here to stay but who cares? I love being kinky curly and will continue to be that way no matter what anyone says!

Ditch the "best friend".

I don't know if it came out sounding weird or anything, but the comment was really casual and did not sound inappropriate at all. But I'll be sure to keep that in mind in the future!

"If you straighten your hair every day you'll look gorgeous."

So, to please your preconceptions of beauty, I should spend hours damaging my hair every day? Umm, no thanks.

Seriously? He's a jerk.
I've been through this kind of comments, but if he talks you down that way he's no real friend.
Don't change your hair and tell him that you like it the way it is and if he hs sugestions of a pretty curly haircut or style he can go ahead.

Dude needs to get over himself.

So, here was my situation. I'm 54, post-meno, short dyed/damaged hair. I discovered a mousse that enhanced my curl, so I went with it. (Unfortunately it's too expensive, and not CG, to boot!)

Walk into work the next day, the first thing I hear is "WOW! Love the curly hair!" from a (male) colleague. Way to make my day!

It helps that he has curly hair, too.

I'm so sorry to hear that people are anti-curly hair. For whatever reason, I'm surrounded by folks who think it's great!
