Angry Make up your mind

I just want to let it out because I feel like I'm going to burst the next time someone says something about my hair. So here goes:

When I was relaxed I had bsb length hair. I always kept it in a ponytail. People used to always ask me, "Why you never wear your hair down?" I payed some attention around me and noticed everyone was wearing their hair down all the time. Different people kept bugging me with that question or discussing with others how I have such long hair and should wear it down until I got fed up and wore it down everyday. Eventually my hair went down to shoulder length. Then people said, "Why you always wear your hair down? It's just breaking off," and "Your ends are bad you need a treatment." One person adviced I use Doo Gro products. So I tried their moisurizer and grease which left my hair dry and super greasy so I gave them away. Then I started wearing my hair in plain corn rows to grow it back. One girl said, "Why you didn't get some kind of style with it?" I learned about the reasons my hair was breaking and researched a lot about hair care then did the big chop leaving me with 1 1/2 inch of hair. Now I get people staring at me like I'm crazy or touching my hair like its disgusting and boy do I hate when people touch my hair without permission or just period. Then they make comments like "Why you cut all that long pretty hair?" If it was so pretty why didn't you act like it was before. I also got, "Your hair is dry you need to grease it," after I just came out of the sun for a while. Of course its gonna be dry then. I also get, "So what you gonna do with your hair now?" and "Your hair is nappy now," and "You should straighten it I know how to properly straighten it." and "You should get braid extensions." No my hair was shorter and thinner after braid extensions in fact it went to neck length afterwards back in my relaxed days. So I bought a wig to cover my hair up and prevent comments. I got lots of compliments. Sucks how I only get compliments on hair that isn't even mine until this one girl came up to me and said, "Can I touch your wig? I don't like it, it makes you look older." Did I ask you to come over to me and give me your opinion on my wig? (That's not what I told her but that's what I said to myself.) My mom said, "You should learn to part your hair and plait it up instead of hiding it." No thanks I don't use combs and thats what you need to part it. Besides I can't see the back of my head. Every time I see my dad he would say "You should comb and brush your hair everyday. It makes your hair grow. Also grease your hair and scalp everyday, it will make it shiny like mines." I got so fed up about him telling me this everytime I see him that I said. "Just stop telling me what to do with my hair. I can do what I want with it, its mines. I can shave it bald, die it pink, or cut it into a mohawk or do whatever. I know what I'm doing. Just give my hair time to grow then you won't have nothing left to say because you'll know I'm doing something right." He said ok but did that stop him from harassing me anymore? No. People just need to stop telling me what to do with my hair and insulting it. I didn't ask for advice or opinions, I already know what I'm supposed to do. They say that combing, brushing, and greasing grows your hair so haven't they ever wondered why their hair is always at the same length? If somethings not working, figure out why and change it. Don't keep on doing the same old stuff that clearly doesn't grow your hair. Worry about your hair not mine.

End of rant. Whew that felt good. I wish I had the guts to say these comments to their faces but I am too friendly. I don't like to upset people or hurt their feelings. At least I got support from my grandma now. She's natural too. She had cancer and had to lose all of her hair and will keep it natural. Now we both have twa's!

I hear you! People can be so moody, fickle, and ugly sometimes! I just stopped trying to please them. Now I do whatever I want with my curls. I mean, why should they care?? It isn't their hair! As for telling people off to their faces, I can't either, unless I am extremely upset. And I'm glad that you have a positive influence in your life! Don't let a couple of people ruin your happiness! Oh, and sometimes, it's a great idea let out your pent-up frustrations. Don't you feel a little better afterwards?

A. You can't please everyone, anyway. They will all want you to do something different making pleasing them all impossible. So, please yourself, and don't let their comments get to you.

B. I did once (just once) manage to tell someone, "I have all I can handle just managing my own life, and wish you would leave me to do it, without your help. I don't try to tell you how to manage your life, leave me alone."

Some people should mind their own business, but they won't.

I sometimes want to say "It is my hair and I like it. Maybe you should focus on your hair."

Good thing we have NC!

Rock your twa and ignore the "advice givers."
