"What can you do with curly, frizzy hair? Make it go away!"

Really? It's because of commercials like that I tried desperately to beat my hair into submission. Annoying.

Has anyone else seen this?

I was just talking about this yesterday. I think that commercial is a little too much. And their interpretation of "curly" hair was misleading too. And i hate that they implied all women with anything other than straight hair loathe or self hate their hair. Not at all. I don't wanna make my curls go away!

I saw it too and it pissed me off. Like really? What's wrong with curly hair? Why does it need to go away? If you have frizzy hair, it needs more moisture. Curly does not always equal frizzy.

What kills me too is those "Glo magazine" or likewise online articles about "hot hair trends for fall 2012" or whatever. And they go on about "beachy waves are hot" - yet they show a picture of a girl with straight hair that bends a little on the end. That's not beachy waves. Or they say "go ahead and rock those curly strands of yours" but the girl's hair is NOT curly. I'm not hating on wavy hair as a lot of mine is wavy and healthy, wavy hair is beautiful - just saying beauty magazines' perceptions of what curly hair is are comical.

I hate that advert with all my being! I even considered sending John Frieda a complaint. I can't believe their solution to curly hair that happens to be frizzy is to make it "go away" The thing is the models hair wasn't even that bad in my opinion {and yes I'm aware her curls weren't natural but still} I hate the depiction of curls as unmanageable,unattractive and in need of straightening. It's enough that the uk has such a meagre amount of products for curly hair {imo anyway, I have to get most of the stuff I like online} and now the only option they give us "oh well just straighten it." I'm sick of curly hair, proper natural curly hair not just tonged hair, being shown as bad or ugly. I will continue to rock my natural curls regardless!
