Default natural is better

Ever since I've been in Middle School I've HATED my curly, too thick, always frizzy hair. I usually wore it back and hated to wear it done. Now I'm going to be a freshman in High School and last Spring I finally got my dad to buy me a hot tools hair straightener. I used it every day to get it incredibly straight and it actually worked! At first I loved it, I got so many complients and all that but when June came along, I was getting really bored of my straight, boring, un exciting hair style. So when my mom started getting mad at me for using my flat iron so much I decided to stop using it for a week. I was amazed at how much better I liked my curly hair, maybe it was because of the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Treatment I've started to use, or something else, but my curly hair has never looked this good! I'm probaly not going to straighten my hair again or atleast not for a very long time. For everyone else who is thinking about permanently straightening their curly hair, DON"T!!! Apreciate your curly hair, because your hair is curly for a reason. Who wants boring straight hair when you can have waves and curls???

Yes, just yesterday, I hadn't straightened my hair for a while and I was quite excited to blow-dry them and be abble to run my fingers trough them. But the next day I just looked at it and tried to do something with them before going to work...I ended up washing them again to get my curls back.lol

A few weeks ago, two of my besf friends, one a curly in denial, and the other just a plain old boy, decided to straighten my hair. The three of us argued for a while and they tricked me into saying they could, and I never go back on my word. It took three and a half hours to straighten, and most people said they liked it better curly in the end. I felt so much better after I washed my hair out! I love my curls!!!!!

I straightened my hair for years and I finally realize now that it looks better this way. I get so many more compliments on my hair now then I ever did when it was straight. Although I do miss being able to run my fingers through it and have WAY less tangles. But in the end, I guess the curly hair is more me! I love my curls!!

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

I've only learned to appreciate them since joining this site. It's UNBELIEABLE how people need support from others that are like them (you know us horrible curly girls LOL). But it's so wonderful to have all of this support here that I finally see the beautiful gift I was given.

Definitely, there have been days when I decide I really want straight hair today, I want to be able to touch it! And then after I do it, my head feels heavy and my hair just feels like a weight and I want my lighter, care-free curls look back! ~~jax

It kind of hit me the other day when a coworker with pin straight hair tried to temporarily curl her hair with a curling iron, much like we do to straighten our hair with a flat iron. Her curls looked so forced, fake and bad. I guess like my hair does when it's straight.

I would straighten my hair every day one year and think it actually looked good. people would tell me it looked good obviously and then I took the chance in going natural with my 3b hair. Well I ended up loving it. Although there were times when I couldn't stand my hair. I haven't straightened it in about 6 months and I don't want to straighten it unless I need to, which I doubt will be ever. I finally LOVE my hair.

I really appreciate it both ways. I mean when I straighten I use a blow dryer, straightening iron and gel ONLY. It takes about 15 min's and lasts for up to 4 days. It's not a big deal. I like it both ways and depending on the outfit I'm wearing, will wear it either way. What I WON'T do is put chemicals in my hair or "deny" anymore that I'm curly. I really loved the Curly Girl book and now I love reminding people I have curls.
