Default july issue of Seventeen

it has ashely tisdale on the cover. and i love her but there was a part where they showed her as a child (with brown very curly hair) and then atossa the editer who had the same hair. the caption reads, "atossa and ashley were hair twins until our hair sylist got through with them"
that made me soo mad!!

It was and worse they showed bad pictures of them with curly hair! Seventeen tends to do that. They bashed Sarah Jessica Parker in the January magazine for her curly hair and yet it was just a horrendous style she had. Their true natural curls I am sure are gorgeous and not what those misleading photos show. Sarah looks boring with straight hair. It washes her out. But you know how it is for a magazine like that, anything other than straight hair or pseudo beach waves is out.

seventeen's hairstyle did just "get through with them!"... he actually "intervened"!!!

may the curly gods rain their wrath on all those who "intervene" with curly hair...

I read an article where Atoosa was saying she straightened her hair to look more professional, she used all the cliches about "curly hair=wild", etc. She looks awkward and unattractive w/straightened hair, which doesn't suit her one bit. Her features spike out way too much with the straight hair, while the curls support and complement them. I think nature got it right the first time.

She looked way better with curly hair... way to go Atoosa
And I've noticed that too about how when someone has curly hair it's often a bad picture. I've seen some straight-haired individuals with pretty tousled hair as well...

It turns out apparently that Ashley's hair was curly due to a perm... Still that's no way to talk about curly hair.

Yes. Unfortunately, that is what is going to get most people to buy ithe magazine. They did have Emmy Rossum on the cover a few months ago, but they loosened her curls quite a bit. People still tend to think of curly hair as frizzy and bad.

It's not the magazine in general - it's that darn Atoosa! When Annamarie, or anyone else really, was editor-in-chief, the covergirls were more diverse, the magazine was overall bigger and better, etc etc...
I hate what Atoosa's done to Seventeen. She'd better fix it or get replaced soon, 'cuz I don't want to stop subscribing to the mag I've subscribed to since I was 12!

I noticed that. I used to read it regularly and the quality has gone way down. I can't say if it started with Atoosa, but it certainly hasn't stopped. I rarely even look at it in the store now. I thought it was down growing out of it, I am really starting to think it just plain sucks.

If the direction the magazine is going in is really in her hands, I wouldn't be surprised if the current glut of cookie cutter straight haired blondes, correlates some with Atoosa's own issues regarding her own natural hair.

Seventeen magazine isn't available in the UK so I had to Google the editor to find out what she looked like and found this. I think the picture is quite funny.

*gasp* Don't toy with my emotions, curlylaura! Just to hint that she's gonna leave Seventeen makes me so happy...I've gone back into my archives a couple of times back to 2001, 2002, 2003 - the issues from back then are still really fun and interesting to read, really have good content and offer great views of the months they represent. I know I haven't outgrown it, if the ones I read when I was 12 are still fantastic reads.

But I think I outgrew falling for whatever hellish stuff has happened to the mag now, including Atoosa and her overall content-less finished product, long before my first subscription.
