Hah! Can't say I don't know what your talking about.

I saw that episode of iCarly! I walked in and saw her hair straightened and got upset because her hair looks just like mine and it's not, well turned down by media or whatever. My sister was like just like "What who cares, they're just trying to make her girlier". Well, excuse me.

I know I am a loser for watching this but an episode really pissed me off.

For those that don't know it it stars two young girls, Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) and Sam (Jeanette McCurdy). Carly is very girly and Sam more of a tom boy.

Anywho, in one episode Sam wants Carly to make her "girlier" and she does. What pissed me off is to make her girly they straighten her very pretty wavy hair. I know they probably did it for affect since it's so different but why can't one be girly with curly hair?

Of course I agree they shouldn't promote that you can't be yourself AND girly/attractive.

But even so, I think her soft curls and waves are way more girly and romantic looking anyway.

This thread is hilarious. I have an 8 yr old sister and 10 yr old brother and everytime I walk into the family room, it's not them watching it.... it's my mom
I think I saw that episode! And I am 23

Anyway, straightening her hair to make her girlier seems odd to me, because I have always thought of curls and waves as VERY feminine.

I just watched this episode today. I remember all of you talking about it on here, so I was eager to know that Carly was going to give Jeannette's character "Sam" a makeover. I knew that this was probably the episode all of you were talking about.

I was annoyed. Curls and waves are more feminine romantic looking than straight hair; I don't know why they changed that.

Perhaps they didn't mean to put curly hair in a bad light...maybe since earlier in the episode, Sam mentioned that she wished she were more like Carly, and since Carly has straight hair...

I don't really know. I mean, they could've dyed her hair darker to make it match Carly's, so maybe that wasn't the reason. I think they did try to say that straight hair was more feminine than curls and waves. Sigh.

I get where you guys are coming from although I don't think icarly meant to say curls are less feminine Than straight hair, I an pretty sure they straightened it because Sam wa supposed to have a makeover. And they wanted to make the results dramatic so by straightening her hair they got a more dramatic look. I doubt they wanted to dye her hair because once someones hair is dyed it usually won't return to it's original color, but I see all of your points to, everyone has their own opinions!

i think it might just be the time period we're in. if i recall, in Grease Olivia Newton-John went from being a little wavy, but mostly straight to having massively curly hair to "get the guy".

Its nawt that curly hair hair isn't pretty, it was just straighten to do something different, cuz everyone was used to seeing the same thing. If someones hair is usually straight all the time, they curl it to look "prettier" too. Its just something different.

Lol like i have curly hair, but i used to straighten it all the time. But when i finally went natural, everyone thought i looked better with it, or made comments like "your hair looks so pretty" or something like that.
I think curls are gorgeous, but theres nothing wrong with straight hair too
omg haha im in junior high and yeah i saw tht and thank you for bringing it up! i know what you mean and that really ticked me off! her hair is gorgeous, perfect curls and they straightened it to make her look like a girl?? i think curls are more girly and feminine anyways! its annoying that whenever they try to make people look better on tv, they straighten their hair, but then at prom or weddings and big events, ppl curl their hair! like just stick to ur natural roots (no pun intended) and rock your do!

I'm 22 and I still watch spongebob with my son and icarly every once in a while. Lol! That pissed me off too ugh! Her hair was beautiful they always take a flat iron to curly hair. I think it's rude and makes girls with curly hair think their natural texture is ugly. I love my naturally 3a hair and rock my curls 99% of the time! It may have been for the dramatic result but the makeup and clothes would be dramatic enough!
