How do you know that some guys who wear their hair straight don't straighten it at home?

What would their friends think? I didn't say they didn't do it (although most don't) just that while women are pressured into straightening their most men are not.

I think their friends would tease them if they straightened their hair, if they admitted to doing it that is. Most guys I know with curly hair keep it super short so it doesn't grow long enough to form the curls.

yeah thats what I was thinking, usually if guys want to wear their hair long they HAVE to wear it curly. they're friends might even make fun of them for using conditioner.

The closest I've ever done to straightening is using the round styling brush while blow drying it. The brush actually creates a some curl and lift but it's not the best look. I don't feel any shame attached to using conditioner but it's not like guys sit around talking about that. Some days I'll towel dry my hair and use a pick and let the curls take over.

Here's an exception to the rule. I would hate to have my hair cut that short. I'm too proud of my curls for that and I always tell the barber to leave it long enough to let some curls show.

I'm 21 and work as an assistant for a consulting firm. Sadly people have thought about 16, I'm 5'2" and with the hair I also get the wild child stigma. So if there is a meeting and I am suggesting something I feel like I have to be extra assertive than other people my age.

Also I think my boss used to think I was getting my hair done or putting extra effort into making my hair curly. I finally had to explain that it was my hair in it's most natural state.

It also depends on how you dress and act. I tend to dress more casual and act happier/sillier when my hair is curly because it makes me feel good to look in the mirror and see ringlets. I dressed more mature/sexy when my hair was straighter. Curls are not childish looking...just don't add 2 big side bows and you'll be ok.
