Hi,
I've had my hair fall out sporadically many times before in certain spots that spread. I haven't found a surefire method to make it stop, but I stopped relaxing, stopped braiding, stopped flat ironing and I thought being a curly head and using organic products would make it stop. Recently my scalp has become very flaky and very itchy and I have had a history of eczema so I'm wondering if all along it has been the eczema causing the hair loss and if so...what can I do to stop it/reverse it?

have you consulted a dermatologist? That would be my only advise since your condition is severe. If you are having itchy scalp, then when you scratch, you irritate your follicles causing your hair to fall out. It could be any of a number of causes, so I really do suggest seeing a dermatologist for advice and make a note to him/her that you would like to explore more "natural" solutions

Other than that, what products are you using? There could be something in your products to which you have a reaction causing your scalp to be itchy and flaky. For example, some shampoos are really harsh and will strip your hair and scalp of it's natural oil (sebum). They can also cause irritation of the scalp and cause it to be dry. If your hair is not well moisturized and you are scratching like crazy, your hair will fall out. If you are cowashing, you need to rinse your scalp REALLY well after, this will make sure you don't have any conditioner left on your scalp, which for some (like me) caused a really itchy scalp. Also look at your diet as well. Hemp oil and flax seed oil are both good sources of omega 3s and other essential fatty acids that help strengthen hair.

Like the other post said, you should see a dermatologist. Also, I would suggest some allergy testing as well.

My daughter has had eczema from birth and her doctor told me that alot of times people with eczema also had allergies and sensitivities to all sorts of things. It could be eczema on the scalp and it could be irritation from products.

I have seen firsthand how miserable this condition can be! I hope you get more posts with more answers for you.

Products: Biotera Curl Creme, Biotera Gel. Devacurl AnGel has been working great lately, go figure.
I can't go totally CG as it weighs my hair down FAST. Hard water.
Bad haircut finally starting to grow out and look normal again!

I have had this problem on small area of my head and I was diagnosed with lichen planopilaris (a form of alopecia or atropic cictrical alopecia). I believe it was due to the high blood pressure medication I was using (thiazide diuretic) . I have stopped using the medication and applied the topical medication I was prescribed clobetasol propionate by my dermatoligist. Although my hair will never grow back as thick as it was in that area (due to permanent damage) the hair has come back.
