supporting my curly mom through chemo

Today I used some old Batia & Aleeza gel and it didn't weigh the hair down. Thanks for the tip on the Garnier mousse!

Current faves are: Giovanni Direct Leave In, Suave Cocoanut Cond., and the BEST gel ever, IC Gel with Sparkelites.
I have an Aunt who went through chemo and was completely devastated with the thought of losing her hair. We looked for a wig that suited her and she loved it. We said that her hair would look better if it grows back, cause that's what usually happens after chemo, it grows way better than your old hair. However she did not survive cancer. But we know that she is with God now where she doesn't feel any pain anymore.

iowagirl- this is the one my mom found very volume enhancing: Garnier Style Volume Inject Body and Hold Mousse. I tried it and it is VERY volumizing- a little more than I need but might be great for you if you decide to rotate with the gel.

I see they also make another volumizing one called:
Garnier
Fructis Mousse XXL Volume. I haven't tried that one but their products are so inexpensive you could always get them both.

Thinking of you!!!

Isabella, so sorry for the loss of your aunt to cancer. I, too, am pretty much devastated with the prospect of losing my hair. But I suppose I'll just deal with it as it happens.

Slivola, thanks for the mousse advice. The hair is now coming out a bit faster, so I don't know if I'll have a chance to try it yet !

Thanks for your good wishes, always.

Iowagirl- you never know if all of your hair will fall out. My friend was told it would but she just kept getting it cut shorter so it would look fuller and it never all fell out. My mom's pretty much came out in huge chunks and then she just shaved it all off. It's when it started growing back that she switched to that mousse to help it look fuller as it transitioned. Well, it's not all gone yet! I will remember that mousse for future hair growth!

Iowagirl, I had breast ca myself--31 years ago, in fact (I hope that will help to amp up your optimism a bit), and lost ALL my hair (and not just on my head, lol). Remember, it WILL grow back, and when it does, it'll be thicker, & possibly curlier. I bought a wig, but it was the middle of summer when I got it, & it was so hot and itchy, I finally gave up, and made myself some fabric mobcaps to match my dresses/shirts. Of course, back then, they didn't make the stylish headgear you can buy today.
There is actually something to keep you real hair during chemotherapy. It is called cold caps. i am not really sure how it works, but you could look into it.
