Is anyone on this pill, and has it effected your curly hair?

I've been thinking about switching to this since I've heard it does not have all the awful side effects like other BCPs do (hair falling out, completely loosing your curls, etc.). I was on Loestrin FE 24 for about a year and a half, and recently switched (about 3 months ago) to Ortho tri-cyclen lo because Loestrin MURDERED MY HAIR. It does not curl anymore whatsoever, about half of it fell out, it's stringy and disgusting and it's making me miserable. I used to have 3b hair, beautiful tight ringlets...and now they're gone. Completely gone...and it looks like I'm growing out a perm or something since the very ends of my hair are still curly. It's ridiculous.

So, have any of you had a similar experience? Have you switched or been on Desogen/Apri and had these problems? Please, I need all the help I can get, I want my old hair back!!!

I was on Loestrin 24 Fe before I went natural and my hair was fine. I switched to that SeasoniqueLo and I hated it, but it didn't affect my hair. I was then put on Ortho-Tri Cylen and even though it made my face turn into a pizza, once again my hair was fine. I finally got put on this older birth control pill called Nordette that works wonders for me, and my hair is perfectly fine. Maybe it's certain people where birth control messes with their hair. I've heard of people losing their curls on birth control, but never of their hair falling out. Hmm. This is interesting. I hope you find a solution soon.

I cant believe i found your post. i was on desogen for about two years and i just stopped taking it because i have lost at least half of my hair. (thank goodness it was thick to start with) i have also noticed in the past 9 months or so that i have lost my curl. i never related it to the desogen but your post makes me think the desogen is why im losing my curl as well. I had big ringlet curls and now i barely have waves not even close to what my curls used to look like. do you know if curl returns once you stop the pill?

Wow, you're the ONLY other person who I've encountered who is also loosing their curl. Have you stopped the pill completely? Also, I never actually switched to Desogen, I'm still on ortho-tri cylen lo, and my hair is still growing in straight and very thin. In fact it's been making me SO upset because my hair looks just awful, I've been wearing extensions, and those barely help.

In 2009 I wasn't on the pill at all, and that's when my hair was at it's curliest! So I do think that if you go off it completely that it will come back. I wish I could go off it but I need it -_-.

Maybe you should try a different form of birth control. I've had the Mirena IUD for 4 years and with both relaxed and natural hair. No probs whatsoever. Just a thought...
