PCOS and oily scalp?
I have been diagnosed with PCOS for a while now and I find my scalp gets oily quickly so that i have to wash it at least every other day...it is difficult to keep longer curly hair with this b/c the ends get dry but i cant stand to have a "dirty" scalp...just curious if anyone else has found this to be the case with pcos?:dontknow:

I also have PCOS< can't tell if my scalp is dry or oily though. It's frustrating because I want to do cowashes, because they say it will stop the overproducing of the sebum from the scalp, but then I'm afraid if it's oily to begin with, cowashes wouldn't be good?? HOw to tell, THAT IS THE QUESTION!! Do you cowash or low poo or what? Maybe dousing the ends with conditioner so they don't get AS dry!

i was diagnosed with PCOS when i was about 13, but i haven't had a lot of the symptoms in years. except that hormones can probably be blamed for the amount of flaking going on in my scalp area. i get terrible, terrible red patches that ooze on my scalp that are incredibly itchy. the doctor has given me all kinds of treatments, but they have not been working the last 6 months. i have dandruff, and i'm just miserable. really awful. :crybaby::help:
i thought maybe it was the devachan products irritating my scalp or my leave-in, but i've been using them for years, and the scalp issue has just re-reared it's head in the last year and gotten really bad in the last few months. i don't know what to do! |
Don't know if it's any consolation but I've been having problems too and I don't know what it is. I've tried leaving out conditioner on my scalp, no leave in, afraid to use gel. My issue is different though. my whole scalp is sore, I can't use bobby pins or clips, nothing. My whole scalp feels like I've had it in one big tight ponytail for years, which isn't the case. But I know your frustration, because not one single doctor can suggest to me why this is happening, or offer any solutions at all. Craziness. FEel for you I really do. So wish there was a cure for PCOS It's just as bad as having diabetes, almost.
