Trichotillomania - does it grow back?

Hi, I've stopped pulling at the start of this year. Prior to that I'd been pulling for four years. It's not too obvious because I have a bit of hair but I've noticed that i have thin spots on some areas. It looks really uneven, especially in some hairstyles. D: Is there a way to grow it back? Im scared ive scarred the hair follicles and all. Can you rub oil on it or something like that? :O

I had a friend who did this as a kid. Her hair did grow back, and it was fine.

I suffered from this as a child. I had no idea this war a condition until this year....I used to pull out my eye lashes.
To answer your question, castor oil is supposed tobe good for hair growth.

I have had some nasty trich episodes. My hair has always grown back, but the rear crown of my head is really tender ATM.

I was an eyelash puller for years. I finally got a grip on it a couple years ago and have stopped (tho I catch myself on rare occasions). My eyelashes have always grown back and I would assume that your hair would grow back also.

Without more info, it's hard to say exactly how sever your condition is. However I know for absolute sure that you may want to look into if you find yourself pulling out the hair of other people.

This is an old thread, but I just wanted to say that so far, mine has. It's at my hairlines only, so when it comes back in, it's a lot like baby hair. In desperation, I shaved off those baby hairs because there were too many to look natural (about 1.5" worth in the front), and continued to do so for awhile, moving my hairline back down toward its normal position gradually. I have about .5" left until I'm done. That's actually a big part of my decision to go curly again ... If I have a good reason (unrelated to the trich) NOT to touch my hair, then maybe I won't start back up again.

Anyway, good luck to you and I hope it grew/grows back!!!
