allergic to an ingredient in suave naturals
i stopped using suave naturals (all flavors) in my hair because they were drying it out. so i decided to use them as shaving creams. my skin was irritated and inflamed like you wouldn't believe. i had noticed my scalp was dry and itchy as well after using the products. but i thought that was just the drying factor.
what ingredient could be causing this reaction? i used the aloe and waterlily to shave my legs. Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Distearyldimonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate [Vitamin E Acetate], Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Propylene Glycol, Honeysuckle Extract, Methylisothiazolinone, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice [Aloe Vera]\, Yellow 5, Blue 1. TIA! |
When Suave made me itch, I blamed the propylene glycol. I now avoid it in all my products, but who knows!

thanks. and thanks for sharing that glycol sensitive link! i did notice that ingredient was missing in the tres nats that i'm using now.
guess i have to do more research and talk to my allergist. |
alternative names for propylene glycol
apparently, this chemical has several different names.
1,2-Dihydroxypropane; 2-Hydroxypropanol; Methylethy Glycol; 1,2-Propanediol; Propane-1,2-Diol. |

Oooh, I hadn't read about these! Eek. This is why I'm sticking to all natural products lately... Not interested in getting a rash! Thanks for sharing, monipearl! |
