drugs aren't always necessary
Just to say, Drugs aren't always necessary. I've had PCOS for more than 15 years and I control it now with diet. I was just a kid when I had surgery to remove one ovary from tumors and to drain my other ovary that was full of cysts.
After a year, no cysts, no pain and regular as clockwork. The very best thing you can do for yourself is to change your diet. Diabetes drugs (in my opinion) just allow people to keep abusing their bodies with food their bodies can not tolerate. Supplements that encourage your body to balance the hormones are fine.
It's very simple (and very difficult). The problem is sugar. It's the starches that are the biggest issue. One way I minimize the damage is only allowing sugar/starches in the morning when I know I'll be active all day and using the energy. For dinner though no starches, no sugars. Sometimes I've been more strict than others and cut out all refined grains and all extra starchy foods, only eating whole unprocessed grains like barley, brown rice, quinoa, oats.
I believe diet IS the source. It is an endocrine system problem. The problem is sugar. Help your endocrine system get back on track, it starts functioning normally. Take drugs that treat symptoms, always have problem.
