I posted in the shampoo-less board, but just realized this is more appropriate. Sorry 'bout that!


I'm new to the CG/no poo routine and have noticed such a huge amount of ingredient info that I'm confused about what to try first (welcome to the club, right? lol) Can someone recommend their fave cheapie for a cowash that hasn't aggrivated their eczema?

And, I'm pretty sure dh thinks I'm obsessed with my new cg way of life, but you ladies are such an awesome source of info, and a delicious antidote to all the straight hair in media, that I'm willing and happy to be obsessed!

I thought I saw on another thread today that someone rec'd Suave Coconut condish because it's good for folks with eczema. I think it is under the "cheapie conditioners" thread but I can't remember where. You could do a search.

Also, I have heard that neem oil is good for eczema when used regularly. I think you can find it in conditioner or oil form (for a deep treatment).

Just FYI...neem oil STINKS! Like a swamp. It is probably the worst smelling stuff I have ever used. I tried to put it in some of my lotion, used 2 grams (in a 700 volume lotion batch) and had to chuck it all out.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Oh, oh, oh...but Emu Oil is a good option for eczema. I can't remember why. The kind I got was kinda cloudy and I had to warm it up a little to liquify it completely.

Coconut oil works nicely too. I bought some LuAna at Walmart (inexpensive) that is refined, deodorized and something else (I forget what) and have used a bit of it on the backs of my upper arms. I need to do it 3x day, but even when I just do it once, it's nice and smooth. and no smell . I'd heard that emu oil is good, but I have no budget for stuff like that now.
