Default Hair loss?!

lately I have been losing a lot of hair, and I think it is due to the fact of using large amounts of conditioner. I usually use sleek look by matrix but a couple of weeks ago I added their leave in conditioner moisture masque, and since then my hair has been falling out in clumps, and I am noticing bald spots! Is there any way to reduce the hair loss? Any advice would be appreciated

btw, i'm not really CG yet, and I'm sure sleek look isn't CG but its all I have at the moment.

I also used to use herbal essence mousse but I stopped a while ago, but that might've made the matter worse.

Sorry to hear that you are losing hair. That is always stressful!

Sounds like something in the leave-in definitely did not agree with your hair. It may be worth switching to a more natural brand of conditioner. Personally, I like the Nature's Gate products. You can get them at some health food stores and whole foods markets.

In the meanwhile, the less you do to your hair right now, the better off you'll be in terms of limiting how much hair you lose. Maybe try some protective styles, like twists, or a very loose ponytail or updo. Do try to stay away from gels, mouses, and other harsh styling products and tools.

Also, if you focus on eating a healthy diet (e.g, fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, etc), it should help you grow a healthy head of hair. Hope that helps!

Default Vitamins

I'm sorry to hear about your hair loss. I feel you pain as I have lost about 1/2 of my hairs total thickness over several years. I was resigned to just having thin hair until reading various hair board and found recommendations for vitamins.

I am currently taking 5000 mcg of biotin and 2000 mcg of MSM for hair growth and 8000 mg of odor free garlic to reduce shedding. I have been taking the biotin and msg for about 6 weeks and I now have new growth! My hair loss was really noticable in hair above my forehead and now by center part has filled in a lot thicker. I actually wore a center part in my hair yesterday and wasn't worried about it. If I did this before and had conversations with people they would keep looking at my thin hair. As for the garlic it greatly reduced the amount of hair I shed. I've been taking it for about 3 1/2 weeks and it took about 2 weeks for shedding to slow down.

Here is link to a thread about Speckla using biotin and MSM with pictures. The difference for her has been amazing. Thank you Biotin and MSM

Hope that helps.

Also you can try Sauve Coconut conditioner - it's cheap and it works for a lot of people.

By any chance did you have any straightening systems done to your hair before your hair stared shedding? Even as far back as 6 weeks?

Exclamation Hair loss

Hi, conditioner shouldn't be applied on the entire scalp but only on the edges of the hair since the chemicals may destroy the hair follicles. Hair loss can be due to many reasons like hormonal imbalance, unhealthy lifestyle, stress and using the wrong hair care products. You should use Parachute Advansed Therapie Hair Vitalizer and a mild shampoo or hair cleanser to wash it off. Also, include fruits and vegetables in your diet and exercise well to improve blood circulation to your scalp. I'm sure you will notice the difference!

Hi Buddies ..... I think that main reason of hair loss is due to lack of diet and Lack of care about the hair with some natural products . To protect hair from loss is to wash hair daily with some natural or herbal shampoo .

Default I'm confused

Wait a minute. i'm confused. I thought all you CG do co-washes, which is conditioner on the scalp. And now you're saying that conditioenr shouldn't touch the scalp??? I too, am shedding a lot lately, when I wash the scalp (water or low-poo) and then when I conditioner, then when I rake in product, and more when I scrunch. It becomes 150 daily. I just got over recently a bout of sehdding, and then I improved dramatically when I was using conditioner with rosemary plant put in (that caused me to itch and I had to stop) and now I'm getting back to where I was before.

I shed A LOT as well, always have. It never bothered me at all because I have SO MUCH hair. I don't have any bald spots or thinning. The only reason I want to stop it now is because of complaints from others. Every time I brush, or run my fingers through my hair, I end up with a ton of hair tangled around my fingers... Enough to make a small, 4-5 inch dread lock. Could this be unhealthy? I was told we shed hair every single day, about 100 or so a day. I just thought because I had so much that it only mad sense that I shed a little more...??

Default well at least I'm not alone

Well I think as long as you're not seeing any thinning, why worry. I saw loss in volume/density which is what turned my attention to all my shedding. It's crazy I can shower Fri. night and lose 120, then shower Sat Morning after going to the gym agani, and lose another 100. Like it doesn't stop. Good thing I don't wash my hair twice a day, can you imagine???? I know there' comes a point in the day when you shouldn't shed any more.

When you co-wash, you have to put conditioner on the scalp to cleanse it.
Most of these people posting have very few posts so take that with a grain of salt. =)

I have lost over half of my hair and not once did I contribute conditioner or styling products to it. that's not why your hair falls out. It falls out because something is one internally- stress, diet, hormones, etc. My hair has grown back with Rogaine. Rogaine is the only topical product that has any science behind it.

Now if you're using straightening chemicals, that hair usually breaks off... that's different than falling out by the root.

well...
Before we get to the outside, we need to take care of the inside. Yes, what you eat, drink and how you treat your body has an effect on your hair. You need to eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables, drink enough water and exercise regularly for your body's overall health.

According to a fresh report by the American Academy of Dermatology almost 80 million people crossways America alone, go through from some form of hereditary hair loss. However, apart from this, there are a lot of other reasons that might contribute to hair loss. one of the reason too much habit of low quality and chemical heavy hair dyes and styling equipments.
