Default Myth #2: The Concept of "Dry" hair

Once in a while I'll read the Bubble and Bee Blog Spot. While looking through the articles, this one caught my eye:

BUBBLE AND BEE: Hair Care Myths: Exposed

The second hair myth caught my eye. Now, I do know two ladies that have dry hair. They've managed to keep the hair from breaking and actually have long hair-midback and hip length.

So, does it really matter how our hair feels if it is healthy and growing? .

that second myth actually made a lot of sense to me. i thought about it and reread it.

the hair iS a bit weaker when the shaft is filled with water. and its true that not everyone's hair is going to feel soft and look shiny.

i was wondering this when i was looking for a moisturizer for my hair. i didnt know how my hair was supposed to feel in the first place. how would i know if it's dry or not? i came to the conclusion that if it felt soft it was moisturized, but that cant be it either lol

interesting article.

Hmm. How come every time I think I have a grasp on what to do with my hair, I read something on this site that makes me question my whole existence?

If hair can't be dry, what are we talking about when we say our hair looks or feels dry? Why do conditioners and oils seem to help with whatever it is we call dry hair? Dryness really has nothing to do with damaged or wiry or frizzy hair (all of which the blog says exists)?

In the end, I guess it doesn't matter what we call it; if we think our hair is dry and something for dryness makes it look better, that's all that matters, right?

Question HUH?

Myth #2 is confusing to me as a AA, if hair can't be dry then what causes our hair to continually break off and not retain length? Besides heat and chemicals, I thought it was dryness

Here are a few questions for everyone:

1. Is the softness of coarse hair the same feeling as with fine hair?

2. If they have two different levels of "softness", why?

3. Therefore what is the definition of "soft hair"?

4. Does having soft hair means that your hair is moisturized adequately?
