Default Hair absorbs everything!

I need a product that will coat my hair cuticle affectively keeping it sealed. Products with oils and glycerin seem to be completely absorbed by my hair, leaving the cuticle open and my hair dehydrated, wiry and rough. The only thing that seems to work are the polymers in hair gel. They seem to remain completely outside the shaft locking water molecules inside the hair and keeping the cuticle shut but I don't like the stickiness. I would like a natural styling product, based perhaps on extracts with molecules large enough not to be absorbed by my naturally very porous hair. This product would ideally be free of oils, glycerin, and silicones. I once used a natural balm that was perfect and left my hair smooth soft and with zero frizz. Unfornutely they changed the recipe to include lots of oils and so it no longer works Any ideas?

Does your hair like proteins? Try a conditioner with hydrolyzed proteins, which are small enough to penetrate the cortex and be deposited into the hair shaft. This has really helped my hair to hold on to more moisture. I would recommend nature's gate conditioners, which I use as PTs.

Also, have you ever used aloe Vera gel? It really helps to smooth the cuticle and give definition for twist-outs!

Oyin pomade. It has oil but is excellent for keeping moisture in.

The issue is to close the cuticle and reduce hair's porousity. A perfect product would be Roux Porousity Control Corrector and Conditioner. With closed cuticles and controlled porousity hair will be less likely to absorb products. HTH
