My mom, right after I washed my hair, would apply Pink Lotion to my hair and then mineral oil. That kept my hair really moisturized. I'm tempted to go back to it but I don't know.

Do you find a difference between MO and other oils, such as jojoba?
Salt & pepper wavy mix 2B/2C
Low to normal porosity, coarse, kinky, normal elasticity
Current favorites:
Low poo: Yes To Cukes Color Protection (the no sulfate one)
Conditioners: Renpure MPHIP, CJ Smoothing Lotion, AB LI, CJ Curl Rehab, CJ Argan/Olive, Darcy's Pumpkin
Style: FSG, BRHG
Pre-poo/DT: Conditioner with honey & coconut oil

iHerb discount code: PNQ285

Bumping because I'm considering trying MO. Interested in everyone's experiences with it.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Experimenting with cones & sulfates while the dews are high. Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift

For me Curl Junkie deep fix is a really HG conditioner for the summer. I use it as a RO and as a leave-in.
rbb likes this.
highlighted 3a hair. Fine strands, medium to high density. Probably high porosity. Growing uit bad layering and aiming for waist lenght!

Pre-poo: coconut oil
wash: CJ Daily fix or SheaMoisture Coconut&Hibiscus
RO + LI: different every time
Styler: CJ Pattern Pusha, CJ CIAB

dislikes: glycerin in low dews, scissor happy stylists, magnesium sulfate

(modified) CG since june 25, 2012
Hiarfinity + extra MSM since March 5., 2014

SL - APL - BSBL- BSL - MBL - WL (stretched)

Hairveda Busy Izzy gets buttered up
Botanical Spirits Hydrating spritz
NBD Cosmetics Nectar leave-in conditioner (on my 3rd bottle)
Brown Butter Beauty sweet detangling milk with added AVJ to adjust the pH.
NBD Cosmetics Miracle moisture hair cream.

Still looking for a deep conditioner that doesn't make my hair feel like I rinsed it in bleach. Yep, that's a pH problem with my hair.

Off to buy NBD avocado/honey damage repair conditioner

I find that my highly porous hair loves sodium lactate, lactic acid, sodium pca and keratin. If products have at least one of those ingredients in them, 1/2 the battle is won in maintaining moisture.

I personally love to put just plain old coconut ook underneath my leavein and stylers, i put quite a bit so it feels a little greasy when just applied, but my hair seems to drink it, cos after 2 hours or so, there's no greasy feel left, just soft and shiny curls. If my hair starts to feel dry on second or third day hair, I just reapply but add less than first day because it seems to not "get in" the hair as good when applied on top of other stuff some how. But maybe that's because of the products I use

I wonder about mineral oil as well. I use castor oil on the ends of my hair and it works great. Havent had any buildup but I only scrunch it on the ends.

This may sound stupid...but what section is the mineral oil in? I can't seem to find it.
