Please Help, Great Curls that Expire in Exactly 3.5 Months

Hello There,

I'm having a problem that's been frustrating me most of my life. I get my hair trimmed, then for exactly three and a half months it's great. The day after that point it suddenly and rapidly starts losing all its shine and shape. It gets harder and harder to untangle by the day. The hair is frizzy and the curls won't clump no matter how much conditioner I leave in. It devolves into a tangled, dry mop. The only solution is to get it trimmed again and it will be good for another 3.5 months.

Here's the thing though, there aren't ANY split ends. I treat my hair like a spoiled child:

I have only straightened it twice in my entire life.

I've never dyed it.

I get it wet once a day, but I used a creme cleanser with no suds on my scalp only every other day.

Only no sulfate conditioners.

I comb only with my fingers.

When I'm out of the shower I gently plop it dry with a cotton t-shirt.

I do a tiny bit of blow drying on the scalp on low flow and medium heat with a diffuser just for about a minute on the roots of the hair to give them lift. The rest of it air dries.

I almost never tie my hair back. The only time I do is to work out and only then with a scrunchie.

I live in New York and getting a good haircut for curly hair here is extremely expensive. It's really hard for me to have to pay for it every three and a half months.

My hairdresser cuts it dry with a sharp scizzor and gives it gentle layers for shaping. He says I should only get it cut every six months to a year.

The thing is, even if I did that, and I didn't mind how shapeless and coarse it got (and sometimes I have gone 5 or six months just to see what would happen) it becomes such a burden to untangle. And all for no reward, due to said coarseness and shapelessness.

I don't understand whats going on if the ends aren't split. If anybody knows why this happens to my hair everything 3.5 months I'd be very grateful. I don't want to hate my hair. Thank you for your time.
