Default Keratin Treatment as a Transitioning Strategy?

I am a new member, so bear with me here as I learn the ropes...Here's the deal: I have thick 3b hair. I began getting Japanese straightening about 3 years ago. I enjoyed it for awhile, but now am trying to grow out my curls because of breakage and much too straight, flat hair. It has been about 1 year since my last Japanese straightening. Because the roots look HORRIBLE growing in right now, I am constantly straightening them. This can be time consuming, and I was wondering if anyone has used the more temporary Keratin treatment to make roots more manageable while they are transitioning from Japanese to natural. Thanks so much for your help.
