Just had it done! Pictures inside...

Hey everyone!

Yesterday I had my first Brazilian treatment done. I live in Sweden and these services are just recently starting to pop up at different salons.

The product that my hairdresser used is from a brand called Ruggero, which she imports from Brazil. It does have formaldehyde in it but the amount is so small that it's 'legal' in super-sensitive Sweden and you only have it in your hair for two hours so I decided to risk it.

Now, I have to admit that I still haven't figured out if I had a brazilian blowout or a Keratin treatment done, because as I said this treatment is rare in Sweden and also we speak Swedish and my hairdresser just calls it 'a Keratin treatment'. All I know is that this kind of treatment is the only one available here, and I really wanted to try it since my hair is soo porous and brittle.

So, my NATURAL hair, as you can see, is something between 3b and 3c and is VERY, VERY thick. It needs a lot of weighing down to stay put. In that picture I have loads of gel in it.

My 'before' picture is what my hair looked like when the hairdresser had washed it with the clarifying shampoo and just dried it with a hair dryer.

Then she coated my hair with the Keratin, dried my hair again (took a loooong time) and then she and her colleague flat ironed the hair piece by piece. That took two hours, even though there were two of them! As I said, I have very thick hair

When the flat ironing was all done, she washed the hair, conditioned it and quickly blow dried it with a brush. In 10 minutes MAX, my hair was straight and silky smooth ('after' picture).

I'm AMAZED! It usually takes me at least 45 minutes to blowdry it straight, and I'm an expert who's done it for 20 years. I haven't washed it yet, since this was yesterday, but when I do I will leave it curly and post pictures of what it looks like =)

Oh, and the whole process took about 5 hours...

Went from naturally black hair to a dark redhead a couple of years ago. Just went from redhead to blonde!
Highly porous and coarse hair.
Using mostly Swedish brands, haven't really found my HG's yet...

My hair stylist applied my BKT the same way! The one she used was called Donna Bella Perla. This product is also from Brazil. Perhaps the Brazillian products are applied differently in that you simply wash, apply, flat iron, leave in hair and then wash out. Then flat iron again. It's applied, very much like the Brazillian Blow out. I'm telling you when she applied it, I was soo freaked out because it went against all the methods I'd seen online and in all of my research. Anyway, your pics look great. Send your curly pics as soon as you can. I'm actually doing my own treatments at home from now on.
Hairguru -

What is the difference between a BKT and a Brazilian Blowout? I'm confused....

Thanks.
Hair Type - wavy/curly, fine texture, thin/medium density
BKT
Most use formeldahyde
in most cases the product must be left on the hair from 24-72 hours before washing out
some brands promise up to 6 months of results

BB
does not use formeldahyde
you can wash it out immediately
lasts about 3 months...for some only 6 weeks.
Hairguru,
Thanks for the info. I just went to my salon to get my hair colored, and my stylist just got the BB. It looked really nice, and she swears that it's the best. It costs $350 plus you get all the hair-care products with it.

Hmmm....another expensive treatment, though.

BTW, how is your hair looking since you did the treatment yourself?

Your hair looks beautiful missjey! Look forward to seeing some pics of your hair when it dries naturally. What aftercare products did they give you to use - are the same line as the keratin treatment?
Thanks
3B dark brown shoulder length
Co-wash, Living Proof No frizz, Biolage Gel, Giovanni vitapro fusion leave in

I'd love to see before and after pictures of your treatment! I remember reading many of your posts before I became a member here but I can't recall seeing pictures...

So I did my own research and looked for stuff that don't have Sodium Chloride, SLS, cones or glycerin in them (since I don't want to ruin my color) and found a couple of very simple and cheap Swedish products based on olive oil. I've ordered some Jessicurl products online as well and I'm waiting for the products to arrive =)

Yay! I just washed my hair and let it air dry without applying any styling products and I'm SO happy with the way it looks! It's mostly wavy and somewhat curlier close to the neck. I'm sure it'll look even better when I find a good styling product to go with my 'new' hair Could use a shine enhacer too..

Just so you know, that first picture in the first post with my natural curly hair shows only about a third of my hair. Two thirds are behind my shoulders/at the neck in that picture. My hair is THAT thick.

Gosh, I have so many! I did post a review back in May I believe...

Now, my curls are actually a lot looser since because I went ahead after this one and got the Donna Bella Perla which straightened my hair a LOT...I wasn't happy at first and tried to use products to bring back some curl...which was counter productive because with the return of curl came a return of frizz frizz frizz. Instead of going back and running the risk of having my hair REALLY straightened, I decided to buy coppolla and apply it myself to the frizzy sections of my hair. I'm loving the results .
