Brocato smoothing system

I find myself at Ulta looking at the products again and notice that Brocato has a smoothing system available. I googled it when I came home and became interested in their curlinteruppted demi-permanent system. I watched a video of Brocato applying it to a models hair. Never heard of this stuff - can not find that much info on web. Anyone have any experience with this stuff? He seems to have a lot of different products, but I am specifically interested in the smoothing system - is this another type of keratin treatment??

I have had this treatment. Previously, I had the keratin treatment, which I loved. It leaves your hair smoother, but you can still make it curl. I don't recommend the brocato treatment, based on my experience. It will take ALL the curl out of your hair, and your hair will no longer hold any curl, at all, no matter what you do. Further, it has left my hair somewhat frizzy and unmanageable. The ends look like they're split (the keratin treament gave me beautiful looking ends). Also, if you color your hair it will take the color out of your hair. I had to wait 2 days before I could get my hair dyed, and in the meantime, I looked awful. The keratin treatment doesn't take the color out. I'm an Ulta customer, and if they don't get the keratin treatment back, I'm going to go to another salon to get it.
I have long curly hair with unfortunetly lots of frizz. Last year I had the Keratin done and Ulta Salon for about 200.00 not including the products to buy with it. This treatment lasted a good 5 months in my hair and only took about 2 hours to do. Keratin did not take all my curl away either but gave it a soft beach wave which I've always loved! Also, ZERO frizz - air or blow dryed. So this year I called back to Ulta to have it redone for the summer, didn't want to deal with that humidity frizz. They said they no longer did the keratin because the employees didn't like to breathe it in, understandable. They said they had the Brocato treatment which is better than the Keratin treatment. I paid 200.00 plus product and it took almost 3.5 hours to do. Lots of steps to it. I didn't wash my hair for 48 hours like instructed. I was super excited to see how my hair would do after the first wash. I used the blow dryer and.. no difference, no difference at all. I went back to the salon they looked at my hair and agreed it didn't work, but they said they treatment helped my hair feel better and smoother. Whatever. So moral of the story don't confuse it with the Keratin or similar treatments. They are totally different and in my opinion the Keratin is 1000 times better.

P.S this is the first review I have ever left in my life. That is how dissapointed I am.

‎3 Months post curl interrupted treatment! In the long run NOT AT ALL PLEASED. When I left the salon after having the treatment, blow out and flat iron - my hair was shiny and soft, but the treatment stripped out my color! Smell was really bad for several days! After washing I still had to go to the salon for blow out and flat iron to get anywhere near smooth and silky. It was straight yes, but straight and frizzy. Nothing that I could wash dry and go with. My hair began to break off terribly even with bi weekly salon deep conditioning treatments. Long story short I went in with mid back length, colored, but not overly processed hair and have finally just decided to screw it and start over. I now have chin length. Don't do it ladies!
I had the 'up to 12 week' Brocato Straitening System done on June 30th. My hair is curly on one side - wavy on another and straight and breaking in others. I followed the instructions the stylist gave and didn't wash my hair for 3 days and use sulphate-free shampoo.

But the bottom line this is a Chemical treatment that lightens your hair, which means it's damaging you hair on some level so no matter what the stylist says it's NOT going to improve your hair. There is no Keratin in this product at all. I don't recommend it and all i did was waste money which is an issue but it's caused damage and hair breakage, which is the very thing I was trying to stop and this did more than any blowdryer and flat iron could have done in 3 months.

Both Brocato and Ulta should take this off the market it is a bad product and terrible service to offer.

I wrote this review in hopes that someone would read it and might not ruin their hair. I love my curls but my hair was too short for them and now this caused an inch to be cut and it's still breaking. The added toner is to hide the damage the product causes.

I too went to Ulta and had the Keratin treatment twice and loved it. I returned later to find they had the Brocato smoothing system and was also told this would be just as good. And the whole la ti da about the Keratin. Also understandable about the fumes.

Anyway, I waited my allotted time before washing my hair and when I did finally wash it, it tangled so badly that I could hardly comb throw it. Then it started breaking off every time I washed it. Needless to say, I was afraid to wash my hair. It's already fine and curly so losing my hair was not what I wanted to see. My hair was down to the middle of my back, I have since cut off 6 inches trying to cut out the product. My ends are still straight and frizzy ....weird but true.
I bought some Ovations to see if it can help my hair and it's not be coming out so much and doesn't seem to be breaking off anymore but it still tangles where my hair meets the Brocato hair and it's been almost a year since I had this done.

I see Ulta has a new product called KeraStraight Smoothing Treatment. I wonder if it's any good.

I really would like to get the Keratin Treatment done again. Loved it.
I have been using Brocato via my stylist @ Arthur Christine Salon in Vienna VA since last June (when she was located at Salon Daniel) and from first treatment, I have been so pleased, I have had numerous other referrals sent to Rachel (my stylist) to receive the same treatment.

My hair is naturally curly and without anything (product) applied to it, I have ringlets of curls and a bit of frizz around my crown. What sold me on the brocato was that after having done it and waiting 1 week before washing it and going swimming (in a chlorinated pool) on day 7 after the treatment, I blew dry and flat ironed my hair just as instructed (small portions) and I got the same results as my stylist. The following week, I didn't have time to flat iron it so i decided to go curly again and I still had my curls only my frizzy crown was not there as well as the fact that my curls were more defined.
After 3 months of going swimming at least twice a week and alternating between straight and curly styles, my hair was still just as healthy and shiny black as it was when I first had the treatment in June. I'm not sure as to why others have been having these problems but I can say that when I first started going, I had Rachel cut all of the "nasty" out of my hair and my hair was just barely past my shoulders and now, one year later, my hair is comfortably 6 inches longer than what is was last year and my ends are all smooth, my last trim was almost 5 months ago and I still get many compliments on my hair. I think that there is something to b said about making sure that the professional who is using ANY product on your hair needs to know what they are doing as well as making sure that you as thier client knows how to care for your hair in their abssence.
After being chemical free since a 'big chop' in 1994, I was hesitant about putting anything permanent in my hair that would alter it's texture. I bit the bullet anyway and went with this smoothing treatment at Ulta. My hair is just past my shoulders even when not straightened.
I'm not displeased but, I do miss my natural hair. I've experienced some breakage and knotting/tangles but, not more than I expected. (hello! that's why I don't to chemical straightening!!) The worst of it has been the smell. It does have a distinct odor.
On the upside, I kinda like the new curly/wavy pattern I get when I wash and go. I let mine air-dry. If i want more 'style', I randomly use my curling wand for a 'go to' style.
I had the full Brocato smoothing treatment done and it is not good. Not only is my hair not straighter, not easier to manage, but it smells awful and it feels damaged. I have caucasion hair with some resistant wave to it. It was not even THAT curly to begin with. This stuff is no good.
