I Am Back! with BEFORE & AFTER PICS

I miss you all my gorgeous ladies!!! But I am back, and I am still rocking my BKT after all these months.
Since I was so sick, I could not visit the forum or keep up with my blog. I am so glad to be back on my feet again, and here!!

Anyways, for those at you that do the treatment from home, are you noticing the cumulative effects of the treatment? I do, has been so many months since my last treatment, and this 3rd one is lasting forever.

I am in love with my hair!

For those looking for before and afters, or those curious about the treatment...Here is mine:

By the way the brand I use is QOD MAX

Glad you are back and feeling well! I remember reading alot of your posts when I was deciding on my first BKT. Your hair looks amazing. What type of products are you currently using to keep it so gorgeous?
3B dark brown shoulder length
Co-wash, Living Proof No frizz, Biolage Gel, Giovanni vitapro fusion leave in
I need a good leave in for when i want to wear my hair curly that is BKT safe. I have a sneaking suspicion that mine starts getting frizzy so fast because I use products I shouldn't...stuff with disodium for instance. I've heard that sodium chloride is the culprit, but from here on out, I'm staying away from ANYTHING with the word sodium, citric acid, or salt.
Thank you Ladies!! Hi MorningStar!!!!

I am using Hask Placenta and Moroccan Oil from Sally's as Leave In...that is all I am using for now. Good for when I want to wear air dried, and good for when I want to use some heat.

This is how it looks air dried this past Sunday, the pics above were taken a while ago:

I'm still lovin' my BKT as well. I switched to QOD Gold, but I'm not sure it's any better than Max. I just do monthly root applications. I haven't had to do a full application for over 4 months.

Just wanted to say hello! I'm not on much these days. Glad now that I stopped by today.

How do you go about doing just the roots, since you are supposed to use a clarifying shampoo on your whole head before applying the treatment? I only want to know because i'll probably be doing the same thing next month

Thank You!
I was having questions about the QOD Gold myself. I need to reorder product and was wondering if I should try the Gold this time. Happy you posted about it! I have been searching for comparisons.
I was reading yesterday on another website that the Gold is not better than the MAX, it is the same product with just different smell and those so called Gold particles. It is just to create a marketing buzz so people can pay a lot more for the High End product of the line...but again, don't know if this is true or not.

What shampoo are you using for your root application Ghost Poster? My last application I just washed my hair twice with Burt's Bee Shampoo, then apply the treatment as normal and amazingly it took perfect the treatment on my hair. Don't know if anything to do with the commutative effects, but that last treatment is lasting forever!

I will do a new treatment in 2 weeks, since I have abused my hair with sun and pool this summer.

I'm still just using the clarifying shampoo that came with the QOD Max kit. It was a huge 33 oz. bottle. And, I use it only on the roots, but it takes more than one or two washes to "undo" the effects of the BKT anyway. I'm sure it gets on the rest of my hair, too. In fact, since it's the only real shampoo that goes on my hair, sometimes I wash all my hair with it. No problem.

Yeah, I wouldn't spend extra for the Gold. It says you can wash it out in 48 hours, but the instructions that say this come with all of the QOD products--so you can probably wash Max after 48 hrs, too. I really see no difference in the results, though. I kind of miss the chocolatey smell. Gold has a banana scent. I last did a full-head application at the end of January, and I used Max for that, and, well, it's still working just fine. I may be a 2b/3a now instead of a 2a--depends on how much BRHG I use.

So, has swimming been detrimental to your BKT?

Enjoy the rest of your summer! <3<3

Ghost Poster, not at all. I was so happy to find out I could enjoy a swim. Me sitting under that sun, sweating, and watching everyone having a refreshing swim was torturous!!

I find out that soaking my hair in Hair conditioner before a day at the pool will protect my hair very good from the damages of the chlorine.

I also add half a spoon or a spoon of the treatment to my special leave in conditioner bottle (the leave-In for when I wash and style my hair nicely after that day at the pool). Allowing to always have my hair looking shiny and smooth.

xoxoxoxo,

I didn't do that and paid for it when I went to Jamaica! What's in your special leave in?

I buy it all at Sally's.

Use the Spray bottle of the Hask Placenta. But you can mix all the ingredients in a separate bottle, then full that spray bottle with the mix. You will have some mix left over that you can use later to fill up your spray bottle.

Wash hair, condition, tower dry...and spray the leave-in. I let it air dry, and it looks amazing. Then I apply Morrocan oil, great for when I want to use flat iron, or just to give it that nice shine and softness.
AphroDiva, I need your help! I can't remember which shampoo and conditioner you use. I have been experiencing excessive hair shedding lately and so has my boyfriend. He says it started when he began using one of my V05 reject conditioners and stopped when he stopped using it. I have been using V05 Extra Body for cowashing since Nov. 2009 without problem. I've been noticing excessive hair loss for about a month now. My scalp is itchier than usual too. I doubt it's the V05, but I want to try something different just in case. I don't think cowashing gets my scalp clean enough--it's really flaky. I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough iron since cutting waaaay down on my meat intake since April. I'm also concerned that the formaldehyde in the BKT is being absorbed and is damaging the hair follicles, so I'm really nervous right now. I think I'm going to rub some on my arm in the same spot repeatedly and see if anything happens to the hair there.

It's hard for me to know if I'm shedding an abnormal amount of hair because of my history of severe breakage from age 11 to age 41--so there was always broken hair everywhere. Then, for the last 3 years, my hair was braided up in a protective style and I wore hair weaves while my hair grew. So, I don't really know what "normal" hair shedding looks like. I know that we normally shed anywhere from 50 - 150 hairs per day, and since I only wash my hair every other day and my hair is pretty long--a few inches past my bra strap--I would expect to see quite a bit of hair loss in the shower, but it seems to be more in the last month. My shower drain is full of hair, and my son and bf gasped when I showed them how much hair I combed out today.

Have you noticed a problem with shedding hair? And, which shampoo and conditioner do you use?

I asked my girlfriend who is an amazing hair stylist for some enlightenment on this, she said maybe your hair/scalp is turning sensitive to protein, causing hair to break or fall out.

But she think is mainly due to the past protective styles you had, causing tension to the scalp and follicles. She say that good massages to scalp, and an oil to get rid of scalp dryness will help your hair and scalp get strong again. Think about your hair and scalp transitioning.

I never experienced shedding after the treatment. I would say, all the opposite.

I alternate between products. Burt's Bees More Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner...and Loreal Ever Pure.

And I am very loyal to the Morrocan Oil. I have noticed that since I started using this oil my hair is full of body, and growing so fast. It goes perfect with the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

I hope this help! I will later write to you in more details what she is telling me for you to do. ( I have to run out now!)

xoxoxoxox
AD, you're so kind for asking your friend for advice. Thank you so much. I don't think the braiding is the problem. My hair hasn't been braided since Nov. 09, and we took it down and redid it every 6 weeks. My hairdresser at the time was very careful to braid it in such a way so as to avoid any stress alopecia.

I was looking at Burt's Bees products yesterday because I knew you had used one of their formulas at one point. I also discovered that EverPure has sodium chloride in it...at least it used to. I found it in the ingredients list a few months ago. Does yours? Ok, so I just looked up the ingredients, and only the Volume Conditioner has sodium chloride--of course, that's the one I would want to use! But all of the shampoos have other chemicals containing sodium in their names, so I'm a little concerned about that. Maybe I'll try a Burt's Bees shampoo with an EverPure conditioner.

So you're not concerned with the keratin being absorbed into your scalp? I guess if you're not having issues with hair loss, then it's not the cause. Do you get the keratin on your scalp when you do an application? I do...I don't even try to be careful.

Where do you get your Moroccan oil? I hesitate to try oil because my hair is super, super porous and it H.A.T.E.S. most oils--any amount of oil. Always has. It makes it dull and frizzy and my curls go limp. My hair has always done well with protein; that's how I started initially with the V05. I've been using that forever--even back when I had the hair weaves.

Anyway, thanks for such a rapid response, girlie! I'll let you know what happens. Enjoy your weekend!

morroccan oil brand oil pretty much anywhere and everywhere. I even see it at my local CVS. Sally's also has an argan oil they carry for about $7 for 3.4 ounces. If you want 100% pure Morrocan oil aka/argan oil Sephora's carries a line and I bought some from Amazon. The good thing about Morrcan oil oil ( which is NOT 100% pure argan oil), is that it absorbs into your hair like no hair oil I've ever seen. No residue. i even spilled a whole bunch and just slapped it into my hair, completey absorbed into my hair. If you do buy Morrocan oil, please note that it has a whole mess of cones in it, so if you are anti cones, don't get it. Just buy the 100% argan oil . Rosemary oil and jojoba oil are also great oils to massage into teh scap. Use them as hot oil treatments that you'll just wash out if you feel that they might weigh your hair down. Good luck!

I tried cowashing and rinsing with a Suave Naturals conditioner today, but it has potassium chloride in it, which I feel is too similar to sodium chloride. In fact, it is used for similar applications and is similar in many ways chemically. My hair seems curlier, too, so I'm going to add that to the list of ingredient no-nos. I'm going to seek out Burt's Bees and EverPure tomorrow.

I get my Morrocan Oil at Sally's. Yes it has cones, but my hair loves it. With other oils my hair looks and feel oily, and sometimes stiff, heavy and flat . This one is perfect for me...and also I noticed that it is giving me a lot of body, volume, and protection from a lot of elements my hair is exposed to.
It goes perfect with my Keratin treated hair.
Try it and see if it works for you! One bottle will last you a while, since you do not need to use a lot. A little bit goes a loooong way.
Morroccan oil/Argan oil is NOTHING like any oil you've used in your hair. I promise!!
