So, I've wanted to do a BKT on my hair for awhile. My hair /is/ completely, 100% virgin. The worst I've done is flat-ironed it, and that was two years ago. I know the BKT is supposed to work better on chemically treated hair, but since I can't do anything about that, I've decided to just deal.

After looking around on the Internet, I got this crazy idea to do my BKT myself at home. I would use the Encanto Brazilian Keratin Treatment and the 1" Sedu Pro Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron. I would be having someone helping me, and I have 3b overly-porous hair with medium texture. My hair is a few inches past my shoulders but there is an extreme length difference when it's straight.

I know lots of you do your BKT yourselves, so maybe you could tell me it's not completely scary and it won't make my hair fall out or anything horrible like that. Anything I should know before I do this would be an extreme help. Also, have any of you tried Encanto? I've seen tons of good reviews, but more wouldn't hurt.

you'll find lots of info there. Most of us use QOD max on here. I've heard the fumes with Encanto are pretty bad, so I'm not too sure about that brand for at home, but many people like it. Good Luck!
