I should start out by saying that I had the Brazilian Blowout Treatment (the actual, real deal and not a knock off) in June and then again in late August. The results were great but now I feel like I've been lied to. So many sites and posts are saying that this product does have formald., but my stylists insists that only the old formula contained it.

Why can't anyone get to the bottom of this? I mean really, how hard is it to find out? I'm fairly certain it does contain the substance otherwise they would have answered my email when I asked and also they would say so on their website.

Is anyone else as frustrated as me? I'm probably not going to do it again. No telling what the long term health risks are and I can say for sure my eyes burned like mad. Also, and I don't know if this is a coincidence, but I lost my voice 2 wks after my first treatment and then again 3 wks after my treatment. Seems suspicious..

I don't know what you mean by truth. FOUR different lab tests came back, ALL of them positive for significant amounts of formaldehyde, generally inthe 10% range for a bottle of BB that said "formaldehyde free." http://www.orosha.org/admin/newsrele.../nr2010_24.pdf

Now, there might have been some freak mix-up, but if so, the company will need to explain that.

Meanwhile, why are you only thinking "probably not" about having a procedure that burns your eyes and makes you lose your voice and that you need to do FIVE times a year? I'd say you're kinda sensitive to whatever is in there and at once every 2 months (instead of the 3 some others do), you're upping your exposure significantly.

Yeah, I am feeling pretty bummed. I had it (BB - the brand name) done in May. I was absolutely thrilled with it. I mean I love it. I have straight hair every day if I want. But now...I don't know. I am supposed to have it done again on the 21st this month. My sister-in-law is my stylist and even if I wanted to mess with my health, I can not do that to her (or another stylist for that matter). This is the first time I felt like I had a product that worked -- it did what it said. And now this...Perhaps I just need to truly accept that I am stuck with these dreaded curls. The only highlight is that I baught a really good flat iron. So even when when 3cs return maybe they will still bend to it's will. I'm going off to have a good cry...
