After weighing the risks and reading about the different brands of Keratin treatments, I decided to do the Coppola. I got it done the last week of September (2010). After waiting 3 days, I went back to the salon to have my hair shampooed and styled. I was pleased at how my hair felt, but I knew it was too soon to make a judgement.
I immediately went on a trip to south Alabama and I thought the weather would be tropical, but it was not. It was actually kind of chilly with no humidity, so I couldn't get a good feel for how the keratin was working for me.
This morning I washed my hair myself for the first time. The pressure was on because I had a meeting with a client this morning, but it wasn't bad at all. My hair did not tangle during washing. I had far less hair loss than the last time I washed my hair before the keratin. The blow out process was extremely easy, and the flat iron time was remarkably reduced. Mission acccomplished, so far!
Here is what I'm hoping for in my future with keratin:
1. Manageable hair with less breakage.
2. No reversion between weekly shampoo/condition sessions.
3. Length retention.
4. Strong, healthy hair during my transition.
I'll keep track of my success. Here's hoping all of your hair dreams come true!
My Status: Last relaxer 2/2010, Two trims since 2/2010, First keratin 9/2010, My hair is still shoulder length. I'm hoping for APL by March 2010.
