Default Adding Developer to BKT clarifying shampoo

Hey everyone!

Since I'm on a mission to eliminate my BKTed hair from frizzing after 2-3 weeks, I'm planning on making three major changes to the way I do it myself.

1. apply PLENTY of treatment to the root area

2. Do slow passes

3. Using a developer-I've been reading up on this from other posters on other blogs and it seems to really help.

Here's what one poster suggsted:

So if your hair is not chemically processed (ie relaxer, color, highlights, perm) please add the 20 volume developer to the pre-treatment shampoo.

Now I've never colored my hair before, so I'm a little bit nervous about doing this, since my ultimate goal is to make my treament last, but not straighten. I'd still like to keep it curly/wavy.

Thoughts?

That's an interesting twist on the suggestion I made to you in the other thread about coloring your hair so that you get that "damage" that BKT seems to like.

I hadn't heard about anyone doing it this way. Have they been saying that it's been effective? You're getting the damage of a color process without actually doing the color process...sounds like it would work in theory.

I don't think it will damage your hair to the point of straightening it. My hair was highlighted (very damaging to my fine hair) and that never happened. Does the developer alone not lighten your hair? Isn't it just peroxide? Or, contain peroxide, at least?

My recommendation stands at doing 2 or 3 BKTs back-to-back, then wait and see what happens. I'd personally rather try that first before damaging my hair with peroxide. If it doesn't work, then, try the peroxide! Just my 2 cents.

When you do the treatments back to back, do you use a clarifying shampoo each time? Or just reapply the product?

woah!! Developer is peroxide?? Oh Hell no...I will not be doing that.

I hear adding the developer works great, but I won't do it at the expense of my hair.

Already I've had major shedding since my last seller Braziliankeratin's fake QOD max I ordered on ebay.

Word to the wise buy only from Keratintoday aka keratin4u.

@ knotty--I use clarifying shampoo each time so as to remove as much as possible junk from the hair shaft and allegedly allow the clarifying properties to open the cuticles of the hair. The clarifying shampoo doesn't instantly remove the BKT with one shampoo.

@HG, yeah, it's peroxide, and the "volume" is the strength or dilution of the peroxide in the developer solution. While 20 is relatively weak, it would still lighten--probably orange-out--your hair color, and I'm know that's not what you want. Where did you read about this? What an irresponsible suggestion to make to unsuspecting readers. Damn, we've gotta be so careful with all this bogus info on the Internet.
