Ingredients and BKT!

Hello curlies!
Yesterday,I did my first bkt in a hair salon!
I washed my hair today and for the first time I AM SO EXCITED with my hair!!
They are totally straight and shiny!!!( I was a 2c-3a)

They told me it will last 8 months (that's because they were already dyed)

But I didn't buy the shampoo+ cond. designed to retain th treatement..

Can you PLEASE PLEASE tell me what ingredients I should avoid???
I know about sodium chloride and sls..

(I'm thinking about keeping my cg routine..No shampoo, no silicones...is it ok?)

What type of keratin treatment did you have? I don't know of any that last 8 months, so it will be interesting to see if yours lasts that long. You can stay with your CG routine. I find that my hair gets too limp and oily at the roots if I don't wash at least every other time. I think you'll have to see how your hair reacts to the keratin. Good Luck!

I really don't know.What do you mean "what type"?
Which brand?I ve no idea.It was the only salon in whole athens that offers keratin services!
The procedure,if it helps, was washing->blow drying->keratin apply->wait for 10 min-> blow dry again->straightening iron!
I should not wash or clip my hair for 24 hours.
And what I know is that my hair now are totally straight and shiny even if I don't use a brush!!And I was a thick and freezy 2c-3a!

Perfect result!

I think my hair reacted very well.
Sodium chloride and sls are the only ingredients I should avoid?
Is there anything else?

I avoid anything that contains any ingredients containing the word "sodium." (paranoia) I also avoid potassium chloride because it's so chemically similar to sodium chloride. I also avoid sulfates of any kind.

My BKT lasted about 9 mos before I had to do a full-head reapplication. I primarily cowash with V05 Extra Body Conditioner.

That's waaaay too difficult.Ι even have trouble finding smthing with no sls and no sodium chloride.

9 months??wow

You mean that your hair started to curl AFTER 9 months or that it was gradually curling and reached its' first state in 9 months after bkt?

Hmm..If u cowashed..Didn't your hair lack volume?

Everyone should do what works for them. I take everything on these forums with a grain of salt. Sodiums are def no nos when it comes to bkts, although the rule is "sodium chloride" is the no no, but I know that I used a conditioner with some other form of sodium and my bkt washed out after one overnight treatment. SLS doesn't seem to be as harsh to bkts, but I personally only use my rejuvenol shampoo once a month when I do my avocado olive oil treatment because no amount of co washing will wash that stuff out. Do what works for you, but if you want your bkt to last as long as possible, limit your use of sulfates and stear clear of sodium.

As for BKTs lasting 9 months, this will depend upon the strength of your treatment. Mine is going 6 months strong at this point, but I do root touch ups because for me, there is a clear line of demarcation.

Yeah,but which ingredients indicate "salt".ANYTHING that contains the word "sodium"?
Of course anyone should do what works for their hair,but I don't want to make experiments on my bkts.If there's something that is striping the treatment out,I won't detect it immedietly but gradually.

I bought the QOD MAX kit from keratintoday that comes with the daily shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo has sodium laureth sulfate as the second ingredient. Isn't that strange that you're not supposed to use sulfates, but the after care shampoo has it?

Well, that's what I do. It's not that difficult. It's a hell of a lot less difficult than reapplying my BKT all the time.

After my last full-head application in Feb, my hair was barely a 2a. It eventually reverted to a 3a/2b curl pattern after a couple of weeks and remained there for 9 months. It then just started to get frizzier after that 9 months, but the curl was still at about a 3a level.

No, my hair lacks volume because it's super baby fine. I use an extra-body fomula conditioner that doesn't contain oil or weigh my hair down with cones. I use a bowl diffuser and diffuse my hair upside down, scrunching. I have plenty of volume, considering how fine my hair is. My curl pattern is currently at 2a/2b after my last full-head application 3 weeks ago.
